Thank you to all firefights, especially those fighting wildfires in CA, right now. We are eternally grateful!

On March 16th I closed up shop and have not returned much since. I have helped a few random people but, I have not kept any formal shop hours. I am currently looking and preparing for how I might be able to keep shop hours in a manner that is safe and appropriate.

If you are wondering why I am not in my shop to duplicate your key, this is why. If you have an emergency, I encourage you to call me. I will make every effort to help you or to offer options that may help you to resolve the issue.

I keep thinking that I should probably change my cover photo but, I also feel like it is important for me to keep my head up. Despite the fact that I closed up my shop and have stuck with mobile only since March 17th. Technically, I am open just, not offering any walk in service. I do answer my phone and offer to help. I plan to reopen the shop, at some point. Hopefully, sooner than later.

As I put boards over the windows of my shop, someone stopped their car to ask "When is the key shop open?" Wait, what? Really? So, with a shelter in place order in Berkeley, another one in Alameda County, a stay home order in the state of California, a curfew being imposed, looters in the street and me, standing their with a wood panel in one hand and a screw gun in the the other, you stopped your car to ask when my shop will be open?... SMH Maybe just call, next time. Like during business hours.

If I ask where your car is and your response is "In my driveway" my first thought is "Oh, you are a PITA". If I ask if your key turns and your response is to tell me a long explanation of how you came to be in this moment of crises but, you have yet to agree to my price, it just went up. I charge according to the difficulty of the job. If you are making my job more difficult, I will charge accordingly. If this continues and you not only fail to make it interesting but, you ha...ve a bit of an attitude, guess what? NO KEY FOR YOU, NEXT!

My shop is still closed to the public. I am offering emergency and essential mobile service. If you need something, anything, please call. I will do my best to help you to get your needs met.

In considering when and how to reopen my store front, I have to think about and respect three orders. There is an order in place in Berkeley, one in Alameda County, and a statewide order. I must also consider the impact to me, my family, the community and, the world. I will continue to operate my business as I have for nearly two months. Anyone is welcome to call, text, email, snail mail, etc., at any time. Chances are good that I will respond in a timely manner with support ...and assistance.
