It’s a time of the year that is called open enrollment for many people to choose their dental insurance . This is my take as why you should choose PPO plans. HMO doctors get paid from insurance a capitation check monthly no Mather if the patient show up or not . So first it’s hard to get an appointment with them and once you have the appointment often time they recommend treatments that are not covered by insurance or needed and patients will end up paying for the services.... As a practicing dentist for last 18 years I have never been participated in a HMO plan because I diagnose and treat my patients based on what they need and not based on what insurance cover or how it will effect me financially.That’s is why there are so few dentist who accept HMO .
