This year we promised to send $100 to a charity for each month in which someone writes us a positive review. This is the check for the Fistula Foundation. Obstetric fistula is a devastating childbirth injury which renders the woman incontinent. Without surgery, women are often stigmatized, made to live outside their own homes, and isolated from their communities. Fistula Foundation has worked in 31 countries across Africa and Asia, training surgeons, funding surgeries, building hospital infrastructure and providing post-operative care.
We are continuing to work through this difficult time, while doing our best to ensure the safety of our employees and our customers.
Just sending off charitable donations for last four months, as promised in thanks for positive reviews online.
Our phones are down today thanks to the usual quality service from AT&T. We apologize to any of our customers who have been trying to reach us today. Anyone calling us will receive the message that our phone is no longer in service, but this is not true. We are here in the office waiting for the phones to come back on after AT&T have switched us to another of their goofy "plans". Why do phone companies need "plans" anyway? Why can't they just simply charge a fair amount for their service?
I am sad to say that we recently learned of the death of Charles "Chuck" Bailey. Chuck started working for A Better Way to Move in 1990 at a time when our office was just one of the bedrooms in my two bedroom apartment. He was still with us when we moved our office to our current location in 2006. He had to stop working for us that year; his deteriorating eyesight meant he could no longer safely drive to work. Unfortunately his poor eyesight made it hard for him to watch mov...ies, which had always been one of his great pleasures. He was also an actor and continued to audition for parts after he left us. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0047203/ Thanks for everything, Chuck. Hoping they give you a good seat at the Great Movie theater in the Sky! See more
We regret to say that we have recently found it necessary to increase our rates. This is partly due to increased labor costs driven by the much-needed raises in the minimum wage, but also by the need to invest in clean diesel trucks. We must replace all of our old trucks by January of next year.
Starting July1st, 2018 a new government agency will be in charge of regulating movers in California. For years, this has been the responsibility of the Public Utilities Commission, but from now on movers will be under the jurisdiction of BEARHFTI (Bureau of Electronic and Appliance Repair, Home Furnishing and Thermal Insulation). Their website is:http://www.bearhfti.ca.gov/consumers/movers.shtml
The office will be closed for most of the day today. We are out helping customers with their moves. Sorry for any inconvenience, but keeping the commitments we have made to move the people who have booked with us always comes first.
