I’ve just had to cancel a couple bookings due to customers wanting to add more people on the trip. I’d do it if I could but my boat and motor have a maximum weight capacity. Safety is my primary concern. Client comfort is also important and a crowded deck makes it tough to troll with 3 lines out. Happy that I could recommend fellow guides with bigger boats. Rates: $350/2 for returning customers and $400/2 for new customers. I provide all tackle and equipment and the trip is for a full day or until you limit out. The limit is 2 salmon per person.

The number one question I’m asked is: What are the hook regulations on the Sacramento River. Treble hooks can only be used on floating lures. The individual gap on each of the 3 hooks cannot be greater than 3/4. On weighted; sinking lures, single hooks must be used and the gap cannot be greater than 1. ... Barbed hooks can be used for all fish except Sturgeon. When targeting Sturgeon, only single barbless hooks may be used.

REPORT: Sacramento River Salmon Fishing Update for Thursday, September 3: The action has really been hit/miss mostly due to the warm 71 degree water temp. Fish are not holding so you either hit them as they are charging upstream or you don’t. Last week, I had several good/great days and even a couple quick limits. Yesterday, we did not have a single hit and did not mark any fish at all between Verona and Alamar Launch. I’m going to start focusing on the downstream section that has a tidal Influence until the river cools and fish start holding in the deep holes upriver near Knights Landing. Salmon fishing on the Sacramento River is picking up! Limited out the other day with 4 nice salmon up to 20lbs. Was off the river by 2 pm. I marked fish everywhere! The action will continue to improve as the weather and the water temp starts to cool. Right now, the fish are spread out and not holding. They are quickly making their way upriver to their spawning grounds so most of the fish we are catching have come on a downstream troll. I do have some available dates in late September/October. It’s been awhile since I last posted...I’m ready to fish!! The 5 S’s are: Salmon, Striper, Sturgeon, Steelhead and Shad. I fish year-round and we are often surprised when we hook into some true river monsters! I’m fully recovered after hip replacement surgery in February. I’ve been busy working on the boat; doing routine maintenance and upgrading gear/equipment for the upcoming Fall salmon season. SO excited about the prospects of putting clients on fish and not have to ...deal with the constant pain I was in over the last few years. It’s a game changer! I’m ready to roll and hope you are too!! I’m now taking bookings and will be hitting the River hard after August 10th. Hoping that Covid -19 cases stabilize and keep the river and launches open! My hip replacement surgery went well! I’m walking without a cane and am pain free! The last two years were rough...so happy to have that behind me. Can’t wait to hit the river! Unfortunately, we have this shelter at home directive now and most launches are closed so it’s looking like I won’t be back on the water anytime soon. I’m going to use this time to work on the boat. Status update: I’ve been struggling with a bad left hip and it’s been getting progressively worse over the past year. Good news: I had hip replacement surgery 2 days ago. Bad news: I won’t be able run fishing trips until May. ... If all goes well, I hope to be back out on the river in May!
