One of our residents and her sons came to the station to deliver some amazing treats for our officers as a thank you. This amazing woman along with her group (Orange County and Los Angeles County Jewish moms) have been visiting multiple police stations in both counties to say their thank you’s to all the officers. They definitely made our day, thank you so much !

Another reminder that fireworks are also prohibited in West Covina. They may be beautiful but they can also be harmful.

The West Covina Police Department Cadet program is a great opportunity to experience the everyday workings of a police department and to build partnerships with officers , department personnel and the community. Our cadets are a vital part of the police department. They help with non-hazardous duties throughout the police department and within the community. Some everyday functions include: general parking enforcement, completing traffic collision reports, clerical assignment...s, fleet maintenance, traffic control, entering and serving subpoenas, and much more. We appreciate the hard work our Cadets do on a daily basis and their eagerness to always help the department and the community. If you would like to learn more about our Cadet program and employment, you can visit our website (www.wcpd.org/recruiting/), call our front desk 626-939-8557, or leave a question in the comment section.

Today is National Flag Day Flag Day falls within National Flag Week, a time when Americans reflect on the foundations of the nation’s freedom. The flag of the United States represents freedom and has been an enduring symbol of the country’s ideals since its early days. During both events, Americans also remember their loyalty to the nation, reaffirm their belief in liberty and justice, and observe the nation’s unity. ^rl

Today we received this heartwarming message from one of our followers, which she allowed us to share: I just have to send a message of appreciation for WCPD. My children and I are visiting my parents this week. Tonight we heard sirens coming down the street and eventually stopped on the street corner of my parent’s home. My 6 year old daughter immediately asked what’s happening, did the police hurt someone?, which truly saddened me. As the officers handled the situation ou...tside of the home, I had a talk with my daughters about the work that police officers do, and that is to protect and serve the community. I don’t want my children to have fear of the police, and it’s disheartening that that is what we are often exposed to through the media. I stepped outside the home after the situation was cleared and asked the two remaining officers if they could just talk to my girls and assure them that they are there to protect citizens. I am truly grateful and thankful that Officer Cervantes and Officer Flameno introduced themselves and carried on a conversation, putting my kid’s concerns at ease. My five year old has always wanted to be a police officer when she grows up and it was so awesome to let her see what being an officer is like! Thank you to these fine officers for taking the time to speak to us and put my girl’s concerns to rest tonight! It’s messages and positive interactions like these that continually remind us why we chose this profession. We are here to protect and serve.
