In 2019, we added a night rodeo to our schedule for the first time! It was great to gather the community and award the toughest contestants with belt buckles under the bright arena lights. While we are disappointed we won’t be punching out at 5 PM and heading to the rodeo tonight, we can’t wait for 2021! Dear Gilroy Rodeo Community, As always, It is our goal to keep the health and safety of our competitors, attendees and volunteers at the top of our mind. We’ve been working diligently to navigate the COVID-19 Pandemic in a way that would allow us to gather this August. However, at this time we do not see a path forward for Gilroy Rodeo 2020 and have chosen to cancel all events for the year. We feel that with so many uncertainties to be hashed out before August, the Gilroy Ro...deo could not come together successfully on such a short timeline. This has been an enormously tough decision to make! We are so thankful for our volunteers, sponsors, arena crews and countless others who have stood by us in our fight to host events this year. We promise to use this extra preparation time to put on an even better event next year and look forward to seeing you during the second weekend in August 2021! Candidates who compete for the coveted title must not only display exceptional horsemanship skills, but speak intelligently and display dignity in all situations. In 2019 we proudly donated $2,381.85 to fight against pediatric cancer via our Gilroy Kicking Cancer initiative. We also gave back over $6,000 to organizations that volunteered with us. At the rodeo, non profits sell food to our hungry attendees and keep 100% of their earnings. We love giving back to our community that has given so much to us!
