It is breezy out there this morning, especially along the coast and in the mountains. Check out our most up to date wind summary (as of 1030 AM 11/7). Make sure your patio furniture/trash cans are secure, and watch out for falling tree limbs. https://go.usa.gov/x7XFn
The winds are becoming quite strong along the coast and in the mountains/deserts. Strong winds could make travel difficult so please be alert! Here are the current gusts from around the area. Of particular note, in the Coachella Valley south of Palm Springs, be very alert as strong winds up to 50 mph are causing blowing dust and sand with reduced visibility. Winds of this magnitude in populated areas could even cause isolated wind damage.
Scattered showers will continue through this morning, with downpours likely under the heavier shower bursts. It will also be blustery with winds gusting around 25 to 35 mph. Expect rain slick roads, with snow likely at elevations above 4500 to 5000 feet.
Looking forward to the cooler weather? You're in luck! Between our 7 day forecast and the @NWSCPC outlooks, there's a good chance of below normal temperatures for at least the next TWO WEEKS! After this weekend it appears that most precipitation will stay north of us, but a trough or two could dig far enough south to give us a lil something.
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the El Dorado and Apple burn scars for Saturday Locally heavy rainfall rates of 0.40" per hour over the burn scars could result in debris flows. Keep an eye on official sources for information if you live near the burn scars!
The weekend rain and mountain snow is heading our way! The heaviest rain/snow will fall Saturday morning and afternoon, and again Sunday morning and afternoon. If you plan to be out on the roads, give yourself some extra time. Carry chains if you plan to go to the mountains!
