A meaningful event TONIGHT at 6pm in our extended community. The Rodgers Center for Holocaust Education, the Fish Interfaith Center, and the Chapman Interfaith Council will host a virtual remembrance of Kristallnacht, 1938, a night of violence against Jewish persons and property throughout Germany and Austria. The event includes readings by students representing diverse religious traditions, recorded memories of Kristallnacht by several survivors, and a talk by Timothy J. Bo...yce about Norwegian resistance member, Odd Nansen. Nansen spent several years in concentration camps during which he kept a secret diary of some 600 pages. He also intervened to save the life of a 10-year-old survivor of the Auschwitz death march. Inspired by Nansen, that boy would grow up to become one of the world’s leading experts in human rights law and a judge on the International Court of Human Rights. This marks the 13th interfaith Kristallnacht observance at Chapman, a reminder of how vital it is to speak out and stand against intolerance and injustice. Temple Israel. A little (???) bit of wind and rain didn’t stop us from absolutely loving our first in-person Torah Center session yesterday with our eleventh and twelfth graders. Temple Israel. Pass it on.
