Designate a sober driver this Halloween

Haunted houses can be pretty scary this Halloween, but The Big House is even scarier . If you’re going to be out this Halloween, designate a sober driver or use a ride-share service. Stay safe!#caliddp

With strong winds throughout the Rancho Cucamonga and Fontana areas, please be sure to slow down, allow plenty of room around big rigs and be aware of your surroundings while driving on the highways. High profile vehicles should exercise extreme caution when driving through the area especially if unloaded. Visibility could also be reduced due to blowing dust.

HEAT WAVE: Temperatures are expected to reach triple digits this week, with the hottest conditions on Tuesday and Wednesday. Please stay hydrated, lim...it outdoor activities, check on your elderly neighbors, and never leave children or pets in vehicles. Don't forget to designate a Water Watcher when children are playing near the water. The James L. Caltrans has scheduled six weekends of 55-hour lane, ramp and connector closures on westbound SR 60. This weekend, the paving will take place on westbound SR 60 from Interstate 15 (I-15) to Archibald Avenue. For specific closure info, visit ontarioca.gov/CommunityNews.

On Monday (Labor Day), Officer Mendez was busy at work patrolling a section of State Route 71 within the City of Chino Hills. During a check of his beat, he encountered a family in a disabled vehicle (out of gas). The temperature outside was 119 degrees. Officer Mendez invited the family to sit in his air conditioned patrol vehicle, while they waited for a tow truck. The family and their vehicle were transported to a gas station. Way to go Officer Mendez! #safetyserviceandsecurity #chp

Making the right decision is not difficult, this Labor Day weekend please remember the dangers associated with driving under the influence and designate a sober driver. Our Officers will be out in full force looking for impaired drivers and will be taking the proper enforcement action in an effort to protect those traveling on our roadways. Please drive safely, and if you suspect a driver is impaired, don’t hesitate to call 911.
