The Huntington Beach Seawater Desalination Project will provide Orange County with BILLIONS of gallons of water, MILLIONS of dollars in tax revenue and THOUSANDS of jobs, all while protecting and preserving the Bolsa Chica wetlands.
Even with the recent rains, scientists say we remain in the worst megadrought in centuries.
It's not business as usual, but water is an essential service and Poseidon workers are staffing the Carlsbad Desalination plant 24/7 to continue to produce 50 million gallons of fresh drinking water daily.
Stay safe and stay informed. Tomorrow at noon OC Forum will be holding an online virtual panel to discuss the impact of Coronavirus on Orange County. The livestream link is below. Please tune in!
Desalination works. Here's a short video explaining how the desal plant in Perth Australia works. The one in Huntington Beach would work the same way. https://youtu.be/JoF13nwgUvA
"Like a smart investment strategy that recognizes no single investment can achieve financial stability alone, a diversified strategy that includes desalination with other supply sources is an environmentally sound and sustainable way to ensure a resilient water future for all Californians."
More than two dozens Huntington Beach residents visited the Carlsbad Desalination Plant to learn about the benefits of a drought-proof, climate resilient water supply. If you're interested in coming on an upcoming tour, just let us know.
In cooperation with Center for Healthy Neighborhoods, Cal State Fullerton and the Bolsa Chica Conservancy, Poseidon Water helped underwrite the transportation and tour cost to provide underprivileged students a day touring the Bolsa Chica wetlands and making plaster imprints of footprints of animals that live in the wetlands. Poseidon has a Marine Life Mitigation Plan that will preserve and protect the Bolsa Chica wetlands for the next generation.

The Orange County water ratepayers got a big win today when the EPA announced $585 million in credit assistance for the Huntington Beach Desalination Project. https://www.hbfreshwater.com//us-epa-to-provide-585-millio
In an innovative partnership, Poseidon Water, LULAC, the Bolsa Chica Conservancy and the Achievement Institute of Scientific Studies worked collaboratively to bring more than a dozen underprivleged students from Santa Ana to the Bolsa Chica wetlands to learn more about this ecological jewel along the coast in Huntington Beach.
Thank you to Santa Margarita Water District for valuing water diversification and independence.
Desal could help alleviate some of those concerns.
