Our Martial Arts program is about personal development. In our Tiny Tigers class, we regularly do exercises in which the students work on leading each other which incorporates important life skills such as teamwork, public speaking and overall leadership. #tbt thankful to be doing what I was meant to and to be encouraging others to grow daily. We have learned a lot about how people respond under stress this year, I am thankful for the growth I have made in that situation and won’t soon forget it, as well as the people in our lives that help us keep that together, many of whom may not realize how much of an impact they have made. Thankful for all of you, you are all my teachers.

End of our 10 and up class yesterday, we did a little q and a. Ended up with some reps on the head and arm throw to kesa gatame then maintaining the pin while transitioning to judo side control. Some more reps and we will have the hips through the uke’s arm pit but this is a good start

Zoom class while we couldn’t meet, now dummy work with guidance and partner work have got these kids looking sharper and sharper. Happy to approach the mat as the best version of a coach so far.

Although we are now open for kids classes, we realize not everyone is ready to come back, everyone has to navigate this situation their own way and take care of their own. This time is hard for everyone but we will make it through. Tensions are high, economically things suck, we don’t have the same toolkit for managing stress as we had before the pandemic. Add to that an difficult living situation, and trouble sharing it with others. If I know you, you are my people and do not hesitate to reach out if you need help or even just an ear. I have heard from a few during this time that I was glad to have helped, and there are probably others that need some kind of help or encouragement. Don’t be afraid, there is no judgement, this is hard for all of us and we need each other. We will get past this.
