Closure Update: The lighthouse closure has been extended into the summer. We hope the closure will be lifted soon so our locals and visitors can come back for tours and events. Please understand that opening the lighthouse again depends on the decisions of our LA City Elected Officials. Please visit LA City's web site and your local councilman's web sites for the latest information about closures and re-openings in the City of LA.

I am heartbroken to announce that one of our most loved annual events has been cancelled. Tea by the Sea will not be possible with the "Stay at Home" order in effect. We know how much you love the event so we will consider rescheduling the event when we have been allowed to reopen to the public.

Lighthouse Tours will be cancelled and all lighthouse buildings are closed to the public through April 4th. This may be extended if the Mayor and the Department of Recreation and Parks deems it necessary. Updates will be posted as we are informed by the Department.

Classes are cancelled and will be rescheduled after April 4th. "Grow LA Victory Garden Initiative" Master Gardener Class at the Point Fermin Lighthouse sponsored by the UC Regents. Classes... Wednesday, March 11, 18, 25, & April 1, 2020 Week 1 = Site choice, seed starting, building raised beds, choosing containers, plant selection, including drought-tolerant plants Week 2 = Transplanting, soil preparation, irrigation, wise water use Week 3 = Pest management (weeds, diseases, insects), attracting beneficial insects Week 4 = Composting, harvesting, seed saving, review, recipes, graduation event/certificates Fees will be $15 per class or $55 for the four week series.
