One of our clients has put together a very tight web site with some neat videos and stills taken at ZOO-INK. check out the top video and the section about the process.

ZOO-INK opened its doors today for a demo and tour for SFMade Week (San Francisco). We explained and demonstrated our screen printing techniques, and part of the show was a timeline exhibit (and talk) about the history of ZOO-INK. In the lower left corner you can see a Foxes scarf. This motif was 1 of 2 that gave ZOO-INK its name in 1972. The scarf was a 1976 re-purpose of the design, as an attempt to make some money. The rainbow scarf and Golden Gate Bridge panel were our fi...rst experiments with integrating the hard edge silkscreen process with the visual softness of an airgun spraying textile ink. Further up the table are spray painted fabrics (no silkscreen) and then the display moves into the printed ZOO-INK line (first collection in 1979) for the Interior Design Trade. It was rather fun digging through the archives to put the history of this place into some kind of perspective. Thanks to everyone who attended!

ZOO-INK hosted Ellen Dusen's (Dusen Dusen) textile repeat class at The Workshop Residence, where Ellen and her students helped print 15 yards each of their own designs. We previously burned the screens, set the fabric, calculated the repeats, and printed the first round of alternating frames.
