And a few more and another look at that monster Halibut and Striper.
Here are some more pics from session one. We got a lot of bass and some good ones too.
Here are some pictures from today.
We had an absolutely epic day on the ocean today and one of our best days ever for Halibut. PersonaI bests for just about every camper and a new Camp Record for Halibut. Alex W. had a 30 ponder, crushing the record by 6 pounds. Alex also had a 25 lbs and a 15 lbs halibut to round out his day. We still have room next week in session 2, so come and join us. https://www.hisawyer.com/golden-gate-childrens-a/schedules... Zane

Session 2 came to a close and these kids can fish! When I first started this camp 28 years ago, kids would show up with there spinning rods or there Zebco push button rods. Fast forward and 90% have a spinning rod and a bait casting rod. My counselors (Jeff and Jonathan) and I love seeing this transformation. We had a Ling cod record broken this year. Diego held the record for a long time, but Joey A. was able to top it with 12 pounder. We also had a record Monkey Faced eel ...caught (5.2 lbs.) by Sean F. The lakes were good to us and we had steady action of Bass, Blue Gill and Catfish. The ocean was equally kind with rock fish, Ling’s, Halibut and Salmon. And now for my Thank You’s. First to my crew of Jeff and Jonathan and special guest Ian who made camp amazing for all of these young anglers. Thank you to Captain Aaron and the Crew of the Bass Tub for our boat experience. I also want to give and share a special thanks to Levelle A., who made a donation to camp that allowed us to to do all four of our boat trips. I also want to give a shout out to Captain Johnny Fresh Atkinson for his continued support of this program and helping to hook me up with the Bass Tub and Levelle A. Lastly, Thank you to all the Campers for another incredible summer of fishing. Until next year. Zane See more
WOW! First two weeks of Fishing Camp finished yesterday and what a great group. We caught a lot fish and nature put on a show for us while we were at it. I will let the pictures speak, but here is what we did not capture. 400 + whales and many of them purging, a Bald Eagle , Osprey, King Fishers, Garter Snakes and more. Enjoy!
Dear Fishing Camp Families, All summer camps are having to move to a 3 week model for their programs. This is how it will impact my program. My sessions will be two weeks long (session 1, June 15th-26th and session 2, July 20th-31st), but you will have to wait an additional week after Fishing Camp ends before you can register for another program, thus adhering to the 3 week guideline.... If your were lucky enough to register your child for back to back sessions(1&2 or 3&4) then your child will be in for that session. The remaining spots will be on a first come first serve basis and I will open up requests on Tuesday morning for Essential workers (as per the guidelines) at 7:00AM and for all others at 8:00AM. If you are currently registered for 1 week or 2, you will receive an email from GGArt and Nature and you will have to use that email thread to respond. I will take them in the order that they are received (like trying to get a cabin at Steep Ravine). If doing 2 weeks does not work for you or your child for any reason, then you can request a refund. If you have paid for one week and do not get in the weeks you want, you will be issued a refund. If you get in then you will be charged for the second week. Sorry for any inconvenience, Zane
Dear Fishing Camp Families, Due to the ever changing Summer Camp Guidelines, I have emailed Marin Health and Human Services for information and clarification for my unique program and how the new guidelines may effect it. If you are not aware of the new guidelines, they state that camps must run for three weeks consecutively with the same campers. I explained in my email that I only do two weeks consecutively (and have a new group come each week) and then take a three week br...eak and then do two more weeks. I will probably not receive a response until next week. I am only guessing, but they may make me run the camp with the same people in weeks 1 and 2 and then have a new group for weeks 3 and 4. I just wanted everyone to know that there are probably going to be changes and to keep checking back here for updates. Thank you, Zane
