I have been very quiet on social media recently. After my latest large scale piece of my wife on the islet in Lauttasaari, Helsinki it’s difficult to share anyt...hing unrelated to the new direction my art has taken me. It is for this reason and with huge excitement that I would like to present to you the Born of Nature project. This project is a collaboration with the immensely gifted photographer Juuso HD . After talking about this project for months we finally had the opening this past November to take it on. This project is brimming with details and care unlike any other project I have invested myself in the past. The final image displayed here is taken and refined by Juuso. He also created an original song to accompany this piece, and be the soundtrack of the short film that will be posted on IGTV tomorrow. We will also be releasing a limited edition print of the piece. Check out the full project here- https://www.davidpopaart.com/bornofnature See more

50 Years ago today, on August 29, 1970, MEChA de CSUN and Chicana/o Studies at CSUN (then, San Fernando Valley State College) participated in the Chicano/a Mora...torium. As a group, we marched the entire route that day. Some of us participated with music during the March and on stage before we were attacked. This is all shown in the film Requiem 29 (available on YouTube), including Professor Raul Ruiz’s testimony at the inquest. In the film we see Professor Rudy Acuña (in a blue shirt) between the marchers and the police (at 8:57 into the documentary). Our participation on August 29 was preceded by the local March CSUN MEChistas organized for the City of San Fernando on July 18, 1970. That March culminated in a rally at Las Palmas Park in San Fernando. WE WERE ONE BIG FAMILIA THAT DAY IN L. A. Que Viva El Pueblo Chicana/o!! - Professor Everto Veto Ruiz.
