YFD was busy this cold morning stringing up the Christmas lights on the tree and the station. Date and time for the official tree lighting ceremony has yet to be announced.

While community focus is currently on all the wildland fires , don't forget about fire safety in your own kitchen. Here's some reminders about how to deal with a stove top grease fire. #1 NEVER PUT WATER ON A GREASE FIRE! #2 Turn off the stove. #3 Smother the fire with a pan lid or baking soda. If you have a properly rated household fire extinguisher use it.... A fire needs oxygen, fuel and an ignition source to start and grow. By smothering the fire YOU are removing one of the key elements the fire needs to exist. Be safe in the kitchen and ALWAYS have a plan to deal with a stove top grease fire ! See more

A little late in coming but YFD would like to extend a big shout out to Marc C Whiteman of Edward Jones Investments. Marc never lets a Sept 11th go by without some sort of an appreciation BBQ for us, and all local first responders. Covid prevented the BBQ this year, but he still paid for about 8 pizzas to be delivered to our station. Thank you Marc !
