JUSTICE FOR ERNIE SERRANO!! A YJC family lost a loved one at the hands of police murder. "On December 15th, Jurupa Valley Sheriffs killed my big brother ! People where saying he was buying water and cookies, and witnesses claim he already had paid he went back into the store to ask for a bag and the cashier denied him a bag and p...roceeded to call security, for some reason they lied and said my brother tried to grab the security gun but witnesses in the store say THE SECURITY NEVER HAD A GUN !! they lied on my brothers name ! when the police got there they just started to beat on him. As you can see in the video, they also wrote in the report that he was resisting BUT WHERE DO U SEE MY BROTHER FIGHTING BACK AND NOT LISTENING !? He wasn’t fighting back, he wasn’t resisting, as a matter of fact my brother WAS HOLDING ON WHILE GETTING BEAT !!! One of the sheriffs then tackled him to the floor n start to choke him, this is when Ernie lost his life . They then wrote in the report that he died at the hospital , THATS A FUCKING DISGUSTING ASS LIE ! My brother LOST HIS LIFE IN THAT STORE by the hands of 5 police officers and by the fault of that cashier who called the cops on him ! ME AND MY FAMILY WANT JUSTICE !!! NO JUSTICE NO PEACE ! WE PASSED AB 901-eliminating youth "voluntary probation" in CA schools!! Black, indigenous, latinx, and students with disabilities were being placed on probation supervision & in contact with law enforcement without even being charged with a crime!! Hear from YJC Organizer Zahria Thomas, who was placed on probation and pushed into the school-to-jail track in LA High schools at a young age. LAPD should never run Youth Diversion & Development programs, because their bloated budget is being used to do the opposite-criminalize, brutalize, and lock up young people of color. If holistic Youth Development models are fully funded and implemented by impacted communities, the Commission, City Council and the public will be have to consider further policy to #DefundThePolice and reconsider LAPD's role and budget in our city. "Of 4,278 kids who were recently arrested, 2,592 about 61% were eligible for diversion under state guidelines, according to the data.
