Presidents Day Weekend is one of the top car buying weekends of the year. Are you feeling tempted to buy a new car? I sure am. I’ve made more bad choices when it comes to buying cars than anyone else I know! And I’ve learned greatly from those mistakes! In our next episode of Financial Sobriety podcast, we’ll get into all the ins and outs of car buying - avoiding the temptation of an impulse purchase, and how to make the best car buying decision if a new car is truly needed. #matthewgrishman #jimgebhardt #yourfinancialsobriety #johndriebe #cars #sale #money #finance

Episode 29 of Financial Sobriety podcast is live and available on all major podcast platforms! Join us for an intimate conversation with our friend and coach, Bo Eason. Bo is a former NFL safety, playwright, speaker, coach, and current best-selling author. Bo’s new book, There’s No Plan B for Your A Game, is now available in paperback by visiting boeason.com... Bo was the first person to help me completely change my relationship with the word NO. By learning how to say no (more), I have completely transformed my life to living with so much more intention - more intention with how I use my money - more intention with who I surround myself with - more intention with how I treat myself. Let’s get 2021 started on the right path by listening in on this amazing conversation - learning how saying NO gives us the freedom from what’s got us stuck - so we can say YES to what helps us get unstuck and moving forward once and for all! Recording episode 25 of our Financial Sobriety podcast was VERY uncomfortable. Telling the truth about mistakes I've made with money is hard. But if telling the... truth helps a few people choose the pain of discipline over the pain of regret this holiday season, it will be worth the temporary discomfort for me. In July 2005, my back was against the wall. I was out of options. I was hopeless. I finally reached a moment of desperation and asked for help. For most of my adult life, I tried desperately to solve all of my own problems. But they just kept coming back and getting worse. When did we learn to bury our feelings of sadness, worry, fear, hopelessness, anger and hurt? Why is it that we often struggle to raise our hand and ask for help? In episode 16 of Financial Sobriety podcas...t, Jim and I share some laughter and heartache on our own journeys from doing it all ourselves, to finally raising our hands and asking for help. I wore a mask for most of my life. One of my favorite masks to wear was that of the corporate rockstar, dressed in black tie for all Saturday night affairs. This mask helped me feel powerful, despite the insecurity I felt inside. In episode Episode 19 of our Financial Sobriety podcast, we discuss the step by step approach to once and for all, taking off the mask and letting the world see and appreciate the real YOU. Someone much smarter than me once described insanity as doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

15 years ago, I was faced with a moment of complete desperation. I was forced to face my dysfunctional relationship with money. Many years later I learned it was the result of trying to fix the loathing I felt for myself when I looked in the mirror. Episode 16 and 17 of Financial Sobriety podcast begins the deep dive into how I began healing my relationship with self... and how that healing allowed me to gain deeper relationships with others - and simplify and improve my r...elationship with money. #forgiveness #selfesteem #yourfinancialsobriety https://soundcloud.com//episode-16-relationship-with-self- https://soundcloud.com//financial-sobriety-ep-17-hiding-be

The epicenter of true wealth is human connection. My parents celebrate 50 years of marriage today. They live with unconditional love which is a lot easier said than done.... I am so grateful to have this example with my parents in my life to remind me what the epicenter of true wealth is all about. #YourFinancialSobriety #truewealth #NoPlanB #tildeathdouspart #financialsobriety

I'll never forget when my then 5 year old son looked at me with tears in his eyes and said "dad, what do you mean we're broke?" Miles didn't truly know what that meant, but he was so afraid - and as a dad, I felt like such a failure. My spendthrift lifestyle of trying to provide comfort to my family completely backfired - I hurt the people I was closest to and they no longer trusted me. Rebuilding that trust with my family has been a long, hard road to recovery. And keeping... the trust I have regained has required daily exercises in mindfulness and the adherence to a few basic daily principles called FIVE to THRIVE. We discuss these steps to rebuilding broken trust, keeping that newly acquired trust through FIVE to THRIVE, and how to handle the inevitability of conflict when it arises in Episodes 11b and 12 of Financial Sobriety Podcast. In 1996 I became a stockbroker because I wanted to be rich. If I was rich I could take care of my people. Then I’d be their hero. That’s the kind of guy I could admire. It only took 10 years for my relationship with money to become completely toxic. Impulsive spending. Controlling others. Out of control behavior. And it nearly cost me everything. It took me chasing money and burning my life to the ground to finally be willing to learn what having true wealth really looked lik...e. Creating true wealth is directly tied to my willingness and my ability to authentically connect with people. In other words, I learned that human connection is the epicenter of true wealth. That is the topic of conversation in episode 11 of Financial Sobriety! #money #wealth #financialplanning #empathy #compassion #yourfinancialsobriety https://soundcloud.com//episode-11a-epicenter-of-wealth-tr

This second of the three segments making up "The Epicenter of Wealth" is one of the most contemporary elements and possibly most difficult to exhibit, relative to relationships today. The interpersonal play of human vulnerability is the topic of conversation you'll want to join as your hosts Matthew Grishman and Jim Gebhardt dive deep into the essence of what makes others attractive. Why is reality TV so popular? What is it about apologies and failure that people find so intoxicating? How does this relate to your "wealth"? Your personal ability to be vulnerable is what helps create a better understanding of your personal relationships with both people and your money. Walk away from this episode knowing how to better understand others and what they may really be saying in those not so casual discussions.
