Update on our little blind 14 year old Max from the San Diego Humane Society. He is doing very well in his new foster home. He loves to play with the other dogs and be around them and his foster parents. He still needs to gain about 3 pounds. Thank you everyone who donated for his care. We will get his eyes checked soon as he settles in and his dental once he gains more weight.

Donations needed. This one is a tear jerker. Meet Yorkie Rescue of America Max. If his story doesn't break your heart nothing ever will. Max is 14 years old and... blind. His owner passed away and nobody knew for 3-4 weeks. This means that Max was WITHOUT care, food or water for 3-4 weeks. He was discovered in his home by a police officer with his deceased owner. This is so heartbreaking on so many levels. I can't even imagine what this little guy went through. Max is obviously a fighter, he obviously wanted to live and survived. The police officer contacted the San Diego Humane Society and for emergency boarding. He was beyond emaciated and they started immediate care. They reached out to us for rescue and we could not say no. We took him with no pledges or donations. Max has gained a 1.5 pounds in the past 3 weeks and has about 3 to 4 more pounds of weight to gain. Miraculously his bloodwork is remarkable for a 14 year old little guy. He is going to need a full dental when ready and he is going to need a few months of care to get him back to his ideal weight before he is ready for adoption. Most of all he is going to need love. Donations for his care would be greatly appreciated. I want to thank Mary Simmons-Maloney and her husband for picking up Max today and transporting him to his foster Rachel Herrera who will be caring for Max. See more

Update on Yorkie Rescue of America London. She had surgery yesterday and the bladders stone was removed. We are sending the stone out for analysis so we will know what diet she needs to be on in the future. She only lost two teeth in her dental and they were baby teeth! We could not have had a better outcome! Thank you again everybody who helped make this possible.

London is 8 years old and has been surrendered to Yorkie Rescue of America because she has a bladder stone and the owner cannot afford medical care. London is in need of emergency surgery. Attached is her estimate. Any donation amount is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Donations are needed as Yorkie Rescue of America welcomes back Pepperoni. In 2014 Pepperoni got his name when he was picked up in the streets of LA by animal control dragging a piece of pepperoni pizza across the street. He was in dire need of rescue when YROA pulled him from the shelter. The lovely Karen Douglas was his foster and had him several months before he was placed in what we thought would be his forever home. On 10/16 we received an email from the San Diego H...umane Society stating they had a dog who’s Microchip was registered to us. After some record checking we discovered it was Pepperoni a.k.a. Pepper. We made phone calls and sent emails to his adopter with no response. We then reached out to Karen who had been his foster and she was immediately on the job trying to track down his owner through mutual friends. To our horror we discovered that they weren’t searching for him but that he had not only been dumped at the shelter instead of being relinquished back to the rescue, but turned in as if he was a stray. His stray hold was not up untl close of business on 10/21 and we were unable to retrieve him until the 22nd. So there Pepper sat and waited not knowing his fate, not understanding why his own mommy had left him there. Karen, Nancy Dubrow Harrell and I spent the same time angry and saddened. Well thanks to Karen Pepperoni is once again safe and in loving arms. He was a bit shellshocked but once he realized where he was he slathered her with puppy kisses. He has been neglected has grade 4 dental disease a degloved tale that need to be dealt with immediately. We are trying to raise $800 for re vetting, bloodwork and a dental. Any size donation would be greatly appreciated. http://paypal.me/YorkieRescueAmerica See more

Hi, It’s been a while since you’ve heard from me. Joey passed over a month ago, and I’ve been unable to get through a day without sobbing, his loss seems unbearable and I just want him here with me, with us. I am truly grateful to those of you who have reached out with messages of sympathy, compassion and empathy from those who know this unbearable pain.... I’ve heard from virtual strangers who have followed, and been deeply touched by Joeys’ story, and his heart of gold and soul of a lion. I’ve received cards and gifts from strangers who have now become friends. Thank all of you for wrapping your virtual arms around me. Since we are all here because of our passion to save the discarded and unwanted, I wanted to personally thank Sean from Hart 2 Hart Medical Supply for their donation. For every KN95 mask purchased they will donate one 3-Ply disposable mask to your charity of choice. Sean personally delivered our masks and they are top notch quality. When a Mother Loses a Child..... I Gary M Sherman write as an observer, a bit player, but I’m no Mom....I learned at a young age what a Mom is, I had a great model to watch, my own Mom.....But when Joe came into our lives in Feb. of 2018, I was again reminded, and each and every day since, what a Mom is to a child, and what a child is to a Mom, and it's endlessly inspiring. For any guys reading this you may know what I'm mean, but you too are only an observer..... Joe was Tif...Continue reading

We got to visit Joey this evening. He is stable. Joey had a previous pelvic and rib fracture that didn’t heal properly, from before he came into the rescue. The CT scan showed his bladder was out of position backed into the pelvic area. The surgeons were able to reposition the bladder to where it should be and reconstruct the ureter. This will hopefully eliminate his recurrent infections since he was not eliminating fully due to the position of the bladder. We are not out of the woods yet. He is still in CCU. Donations would be greatly appreciated for this little guys surgery. Our direct link is: paypal.me/YorkieRescueAmerica

Hi, it's Joey, here I am again, facing another life saving surgery, I just want a break, I'm a really good kid. I've been here since Friday, my Mom and Dad are staying nearby. The doctors here at UC Davis, say they've never seen a dog with as many complex issues as I have, and its because of my support system (you guys), that I'm still here. I'm hoping that everything goes well and that I can update you as soon as I'm able, if you can make a donation to help me out one more time, we will be truly grateful that you are again, there for us. Love Joey PayPal.me/YorkieRescueAmerica

Update on Yorkie Rescue of America Joey. He finished his 6 week course of 2 antibiotics for his kidney infection on the 13th. On the 16th, three days later he was admitted to critical care because he did not want to eat dinner on the evening of the 15th and the morning of Sunday, the16th. Joey’s BUN was over 100. He was put on iv fluids and antibiotics again to continue treatment for the kidney infection. Joey was discharged Tuesday the 18th, and within 5 hours he was runni...ng a temp of 105 and having tremors. We rushed Joey to ER in the middle of the night and he was re admitted to the hospital back on iv antibiotics and fluids. The ER veterinarian apparently started Joey on pain medications we were not aware of. On Wednesday we were told his temperature was back to normal but he couldn’t stand and was not peeing or pooping on his own. Same report on Thursday so my husband Gary M Sherman realized it was the pain meds. So we asked the vet last evening to take him off the pain meds and by this morning, he was peeing and pooping and standing on his own. His other vet was back this morning and honestly she is not sure he won’t spike a temperature again when sent home and we would be right back at where we started so she referred him up to Davis. Joey did have an appointment this Tuesday with Internal Medicine however his condition became more critical this week and we need to get to the botttom of his infection and stricture and whether he is going to need surgery.
