Also some candies can cause broken teeth, fillings,or crowns! ... Enjoy your candy this weekend and here is a guide to making the best choices for your teeth! The Worst: Anything Sticky!! Taffy, Caramel, or candies containing coconut and nuts. These stick to the grooves in your teeth and take longer to get rid of so bacteria sticks around longer. 2nd Worst: Hard Candy! Lollipops, jawbreakers etc. The sugars in these take longer to dissolve and make your mouth more acidic. Pretty Bad: Sour Candy! Like Gummy Worms! The high acidity in these candies break down tooth enamel! Not So Bad: Chocolate without any sticky fillings Best: Sugar Free Gum is usually sweetened with Xylitol which doesn’t stay on teeth and bacteria cannot form plaque on. or skip sugary treats all together and hand out Halloween themed stickers or pencils!
