After all that thanks and eating, I had to get back to the gym, to keep up with my consistency. I give thanks to so many things, ... and I know that if I want my body to be an asset and not an anchor, it’s up to me to do the work. Leadership isn’t just about being the boss; it's about leading all aspects of your life! Get Up.Lead.Repeat

Almost everyone has gone through a traumatic event or had an upbringing that was rough in some way. It's the people that don't use that as an excuse who break free and succeed. Stop Blaming Start Leading

Last weekend we had a garage sale at my house to get rid of some of our older things and to help my in-laws sell theirs. It was a lot of work to set up and to stand in the hot sun for all those hours. We had friends and family come over and help in different shifts, to help move, sort, and sell the massive amount of items we had out.... The first day was great, we sold furniture and electronics and actually made some money, so we packed it up excited for day 2. On Sunday, more friends came to help, but this time barely any customers. We were down and annoyed that we had taken all this stuff out and now we would have to either put it back or take it to donate. Around 11 am an older gentleman riding his bike wearing a yellow hoody come up and starts to look around. He looked like he was in his 70's or 80's but I wasn't sure, so I asked, he looked at me did a high kick with each leg, got on the ground did ten push up, and the said: "I will be 82 in 2 weeks." I knew at that moment that this man was special, so I turned on my camera and recorded some of the best advice I have ever received. My goal as a Leader a Father and a Husband is to be healthy and happy, and Martin taught us how. He gave his lesson in Spanish so I will translate 1. Exercise daily - It doesn't matter if you bike or walk, just get up and move. 2. Sleep - He suggested sleeping 7-8 hours a night. 3. Eat Healthy - He told us to enjoy food but to eat in moderation and to watch the salt and sugar intake. He also said not to eat to much and to leave food for others. 4. Control Your Mind - Don't let anyone control your thoughts or feeling and don't try to control others. 5. Laugh - He told us that he doesn't take medication because he laughs and smiles all the time. 6. Don't Fight - He sang us a song about happy marriages and said to negotiate and make it a win-win. To never fight in front of the kids. 7. Don't Yell - Martin taught us that by yelling you get angry and stressed out, and you teach others violent behavior. 8. Dance - We put on some music, and he just started dancing. 9. Give Back - He told me that he doesn't believe in dying with lots of money, so he saves and buys supplies for the poor and gives back to charity. He went on to dance and sing and give us life lessons for the next hour. Martin is retired and worked as a cook for a local college, and he lives like a millionaire. We barely sold anything that day but what Martin taught us was gold.
