This modified Fender Blues Junior is the business!!! All the pots replaced with higher quality chassis mounted versions, Switchcraft USA isolated input jack, push pull mid boost enhancement, overdrive boost switch added to the front panel and the circuit was modified for amazing singing cleans and tasteful raging overdrive tones that rival coveted boutique amps that sell for big bucks. Probably the best 15watt small package amp for under a 1000 bucks out there after the mod ...costs. Tube package includes Mullard CV4004 for V1 and V2, Mullard 12AT7 For V3 and JJ EL84 power tubes. All high quality audio grade resistors and capacitors used in the mod. The upgraded combination of Sprague 6PS and SoZo mustard capacitors really bring out the warmth and enhance the tonal character of these otherwise bright tinny sounding Fenders with the stock IC brand caps. I went all up in it from the input to the speaker, dialing in the perfect circuit values until I hit this amazing balance between clean and overdrive. The real magic I found is in the phase inverter and power amp section upgrades after the preamp architecture is enhanced, so you get a really great singing tone happening for anywhere from John Mayer style tones to raging rock and indie sounds. To top it off we managed to fit a modified Celestion G12 Alnico speaker in there to spice things up a bit with a nice cutting, but smooth chime that really pumps up the output capability of this baby combo. You’d swear you were playing through a 30 watt amp with how this speaker projects with this combo. I think this is my new favorite small amp. I was never a big fan of the stock version, but this upgraded version of it sounds so incredible and is definitely an amp I’d bring to a small gig and even take on the road without fear of it getting trashed or stolen since they are super cheap to get a hold of another. You blues and indie rock players are going to love this thing. Shoot, even the surf rock enthusiasts will get a kick out of it.
