A N N O U N C E M E N T Welcome to Chocolate: The Melanin Series I’ve been so ready to release my first collection of work celebrating melanin at its creative, artistic ,and boldest aspects of the many genres of photography I’ve gotten to experience over the years. As many also know my love for food and a good dessert so I thought it could only be fitting that I called this project Chocolate. We find chocolate in many forms, flavors and in different things; that’s ho...w I see us as a community of Black, African American, Afro-Latino, the list goes on and on, but we are all that...a multitude of this strong, beauty and greatness but yet we are different on so many levels but yet one in the same collectively. Growing up we became accustomed to the images showing us that we must change who we are to fit in, whether it was in appearance, dialect or even through interaction. . . What I am most proud of is that I can show younger artists, children in general that you are beautiful! You are somebody & I believe in you and your dreams, because somewhere these babies even the adults that have yet to have the opportunity to hear it, see it, and worst part is they don’t believe it and it’s showing. I hope through this project they find inspiration, hope, and a piece of themselves to identify with or even just a reference. All of us has a story and I think the more we voice our stories we’ll see how connected we all are in some way, shape or form. It’s time for us to start extending a hand and start pulling the rest of us from being at a crossroad, being in that dark and lonely place, being misunderstood, even taken advantage of but I will say this as easy as it is said...we the individual have to be just that open to accept the love, the help, and openness of others.
