Can Reiki Cause Pain? Question: I was worried and wondering. When I practiced for the first time on you last class you had mentioned that you felt as if your eye would pop out when at the forehead/eye area. I actually have been kinda of perplexed on if that is good because I was thinking if when giving a session and a person feels alot of pressure that can be scary to someone who does not know what to expect especially if it is for relaxing. In retrospect I worried that it ...may have hurt you. Answer: it is a good practice to observe and listen to what the person you are working on is saying. I have had many people say they felt different sensations during sessions. I'm very very sensitive and dramatic so I apologize if you thought you hurt me. You didn't hurt me. Always let the receiver know that's they are in charge of their comfort and to let you know if they need something. You can let them know that pain can come up if they've recently had an injury and ask them to let you know if they need you to stop. When I've had clients experience pain I back up and hover more. Pain can be experienced when something is healing rapidly. My father experienced extreme pain when I was hovering over his knee during a session. This was just after he had knee surgery. So I had to stop because no matter how far away I was sending the Reiki, he had too much pain. This also happens with people who've just had an injury. The Reiki is moving fast to heal the injury and the injury is rapidly taking in the energy so pain can happen. A woman who was hit by a car said she felt pain in her shoulder no matter what position I was on and that she knew it was a good thing, just as I did when I said my eye felt like it was bursting out of my head. I knew it was a good thing. If you ever feel pain and don't like it, have the person stop. If you are giving someone Reiki and they are in pain, just keep moving away until the pain stops and send Reiki from there or stop and revisit at another time. See more

Question: What happens with energy if one is giving Reiki and for some reason you have to stop and attend to something or someone forgetting to break the flow of the session? Like you are giving a Reiki session and a child or person interrupts and you need to assist that child or person with something like clean them or hug them. I was just curious, because in my case I had to jump and assist and I had not broken the flow of energy. Does the person I may have to help get the ...energy from the person receiving Reiki because the flow was not stopped and I had not done a sweep? Answer: It's important to make sure you and your person receiving will be undisturbed to prevent interruptions. That being said, things happen. Washing your hands and clearing yourself breaks the flow. I personally, would do a little self wipe before hugging people after I'd been working on people to protect the energy of the person you are hugging from collecting leftover energies from the person you were giving Reiki to. Although, I have collected some odd energy that needed to be cleared just by hugging people without even doing Reiki. In that case, clearing your energy is always beneficial using intention, smudging with sage, 21 OM's, tsing a sea salt bath or washing hands with it or any other clearing technique you might know.

How to Clear Your Energy

A newly attuned Reiki I student just posted this after her dog wasn't walking due to pain. "I did reiki on Abbie and she is running at the park!"

Headaches really can heal in minutes!!! A Reiki student asked me these questions after helping heal a headache in minutes: "Do I need to ground the person and do the Reiki wipe? What if I forgot? Should I do the wipe the next time I see her? Does Albertsons carry Reiki wipes?" Here's what he said, "I have a Reiki story. My step-daughter had a bad headache for a couple of days. She had that dull disconnected look and you could just tell she was miserable. On Sunday morning, ...I was debating whether I should go to Unity to give Reiki when my step-daughter said, "you could stay home and give me Reiki??". I don't think about giving the family Reiki because my wife and bio-daughter are usually not patient enough unless they are ready to fall asleep. I had my step-daughter lay on the floor, and I cradled her head, then covered her third-eye chakra. After a minute or two she asked me to stop because she couldn't take it. She told me that her headache went away immediately when I cradled her head. Her third-eye was initially ok, but then started burning. I felt the change from a solid bar of clay when I started to a squishier feeling that coincided with the burning. I'm confident that her headache was gone and has not returned because she looks so much more comfortable. I just can't believe that it could work so fast and so completely( or at all for that matter). I don't know what to think#%!. Question: I never got a chance to ground my step-daughter and I forgot to give her the Reiki wipe." My reply: I'm so happy you are seeing the miracles that can happen with Reiki! One time I was in the mall with a friend who had a headache. I asked her if she wanted me to do Reiki and she said yes. I put one hand on the back of her head and one hand over her eyes. My hands felt electrical shocks for a few minutes and then it was gone. She and I were very pleased. This happens very often with headaches, although, sometimes the headache can be hormonal so you would start over the creases at the root and then after about 30 minutes go to the head. You don't have to do the Reiki wipe. It's just a good way to wipe any excess energy away after a full Reiki session to clear the space. Grounding is recommended after a full Reiki session. It sounds like you didn't need to ground her as it was only a mini session. I hope this helps. See more

Can Someone Block Reiki? This question came up when a Reiki practitioner had an experience where the person was just staring at them with a look of disbelief after they agreed to have a session. I believe anyone can block anything. I've found myself blocking the energy just by not breathing. Breathing is receiving. When this happens I remind myself that receiving balances out the giving and receiving flow in my system so I picture my chakras opening like a puppy lying on its... back with legs sprawled open to have its belly scratched. I also affirm, "I receive." Receiving is not easy for everyone. Sometimes when we give and give we forget the feeling of receiving. One Reiki master I was working with said that when he felt the client blocking the energy he gently said, "You're blocking me. Let me in." She wasn't even aware of it. Then she did it again and realized she too was not breathing. It worked after that. If someone continues to look at the practioner in a weird way and poo poo Reiki, as mentioned in the first part of this writing, I would not continue wasting my precious time giving the person Reiki and spend my time working with someone who was appreciation this precious gift. I hope this helps See more

Is my Reiki Working? A Reiki student was activating her Reiki with her hands on someone's shoulders. Afterwards she mentioned she was nervous wondering if it was working. The receiver said she felt that her partner was nervous. If you're worried about what the other person is experiencing, you set yourself up to not only to feel failure, but are torturing yourself and ruining what is a beautiful gift. This is so common for people to wonder. I remember the question racing th...rough my mind many times until I decided to ask a different question: What do I notice? That question takes so much pressure of you having to do anything but let the energy flow through you and see what comes. Some people will feel nothing and others will have amazing sensations. The key to practicing Reiki is to allow the Reiki to flow without trying to control the outcome and just trust that the person got what they needed. Sometimes I don't feel much and the person had a big shift and others I felt so much and they felt nothing. So interesting! I hope this helps. See more

The question came up, "While receiving Reiki, can you also give yourself Reiki at the same time for a double Reiki effect?" You can, but I would watch your intention. If your intention is to simply place your hands comfortably while allowing yourself to deeply relax and let go, then I would go for it. For many of us it's hard to receive so we want to be doing something whether physically putting our hands on ourselves or mentally trying to make something happen. A woman I was... giving a treatment placed her hands tightly over her heart in what looked like a tense manner. Her face never relaxed and her hands remained tense the whole time. Afterwards she complained that she couldn't get out of her head. I suggested next time she just relax as much as possible and let go of the outcome. For me, personally, when I'm receiving, I place my hands down and open by my sides And talk to myself in my head while taking a few deep breaths. I am saying, "I receive, I am grateful," while I imagine all of my chakras and body opening up like a dog lying on his back with his belly exposed and legs wide open. I imagine with each breath my body is sinking deeper and deeper into relaxation. Then I breathe regularly and before I know it, I'm gone. It takes me about 20 minutes to fully relax depending on if I'm receiving in person or via distance Reiki. I hope this helps :-) See more

How to Have a Happy Dental Experience with Reiki & crystals One time I was so nervous about having a cavity filled that I decided to experiment to see if Reiki would help. I highly recommend trying this for any appointment you are dreading. If you do not know distance Reiki, simply give yourself a Reiki session before your treatment, place your hands on yourself during the treatment, (I rest my hands on my saves or root chakra), and then give yourself Reiki after the appoint...ment. If you do know Reiki II. Write the appointment date and your name and the doctor/dentist name on a piece of paper. Send distance Reiki to the paper. It also helps to visualize how peaceful you will be. You can also infuse a crystal by drawing the distance symbol over it and infusing it with peace, serenity, (I chose numbing). Take the crystal with you and hold it during the treatment. Bringing headphones and playing soothing music on your phone is also great. When I went for my treatment I actually fell asleep with all that Reiki. I had never fallen asleep at an appointment before in my life. See more

Another question was asked about receiving messages: "Doing distance reiki on someone, I had a very clear vision while cradling the head. I saw sexual abuse. I have NEVER had a vision before. This person is new to reiki and does not even know about asking for messages. I certainly did not offer up this information. Has something like this happened to you? What if the person had asked me what I saw?? That could be a highly explosive comment!!!" On the abuse question I have h...ad similar things come up. I ask if they would like to know what came up. If yes I simply and neutrally report what I saw. If it doesn't resonate, you can say maybe it was suppressed or a past life. You never know. It's come up a few times. Remember to give up attachment to knowing if it resonates. They do with it what they will. If they react, it's ok. You can just be a space holder of compassion and tell them that's just what you saw and they don't have to do believe anything. Reporting wig neutrality is the key here. See more

The question was asked, "What do you do when you're giving Reiki and receive images and/or messages?" Sometimes we can receive information or visions when working on people. While it can be helpful for the person to know what they are, it can also break the relaxed feeling of bliss after a session. When I receive messages or images or even emotions that I know aren't mine, I will often ask the person after the session if they would like to know what I perceived. This saves ...you the trouble of giving someone a message who isn't open for it. Most often they will ask anyway. I still always ask. If they say yes, I deliver the message without judgment or attachment to whether it makes an impact. I saw one woman who felt sad emotions during a session say, "I felt so much sadness when I was on your heart." She said it with a crinkled up face and I could feel the judgment or a waiting for more info on why. It doesn't matter why. If the person chooses to share more, they will, but don't pressure them to tell you. Remember to keep ego out of Reiki sessions. You will save yourself the hassle of the having to clear all of energy you collect when you're attached to the outcome. Another reason I would ask permission if you receive a message: When I first learned Reiki, I was working on a friend. I saw an image of an old woman putting long locks of gray hair into a wooden chest. She said with a sigh, "When are these gray hairs going to stop coming?" When I heard that I was so excited to share as it was the first time anything like that had happened to me. I couldn't wait to share. As she was coming out of her session I told her what I saw and heard, (without asking permission.) She looked confused and asked me to tell her again as she was still coming back into her body. I told her and she looked horrified. She said, "I've never told anybody that I've been getting gray hair since I was 11. I keep pulling them out. Just this week I was asking that question in the mirror. I don't want anybody in my head." Oops! Always ask permission to tell them if anything comes through. See more

Do you feel yucky or have headaches after giving Reiki? Many students have complained of this problem. It may be a clearing of energy that is needed. I think it's more of collecting negative exiting energy that is happening. A woman in another class had a pain in her forehead when giving and receiving. We found out it's her third eye clearing out from past life trauma during a session. I also know that sensitive people like myself can feel tired or pain after giving Reiki. ...Try taking sea salt baths putting your head in too. You don't have to put ears in. During the Reiki treatment you can intend sending any energy that's negative down to the earth. Also, I would get a blue kyanite and a black tourmaline crystal to wear for protection of your energy when giving Reiki to people. The stones take the negative energy instead of you taking it. Kyanite cleanses itself but black tourmaline may need some cleansing with sage or putting it under the full moon. See more
