Refunds will NOT be delayed!!!!!! IRS confirms tax filing season to begin January 28 WASHINGTON Despite the government shutdown, the Internal Revenue Service today confirmed that it will process tax returns beginning January 28, 2019 and provide refunds to taxpayers as scheduled.

Taxpayers who file early in tax season may not receive their refunds in a timely manner because of the partial government shutdown that began on December 22, according to The Wall Street Journal. If the shutdown continues, it could mean a delay in "billions of dollars in income-tax refunds," The Journal's Richard Rubin reported.
