Roll Yuletide Hello there Ladies and Gentlemen I really don’t know what to say. It seems wrong to just write, Hey, get some music at World Records!, when so many of us are at best dealing with mounds of uncertainty, and at worst are dealing with family, friend, or neighbor tragedy. So I’ll just say I hope you and yours are safe. I hope you are still on speaking terms with friends and family. I hope you have a sense of purpose that includes insuring that others get thei...r best future beyond this tragic episode. I hope you have joy, music, and laughter, even in difficult times. Music doesn’t answer all the questions. But it certainly has a place where hope, kindness, and caring are being practiced. If you need some music, or you want to boost somebody with a gift of music, here are some new and new-ish releases: GREGORY PORTER All Rise ACE FREHLEY Origins Volume 2 AC/DC Power Up BLUE OYSTER CULT The Symbol Remains SMASHING PUMPKINS CYR ANDREA BOCELLI Believe DIANA KRALL This Dream of You CHRIS STAPLETON Starting Over ALSO: World Records has Boytone record players and Audio Technica turntables in stock in addition to our huge inventory of CDs and LPs. We ship.

Black Friday hours - 8 AM to 3 PM at World Records! Black Friday - and its own list of Record Store Day exclusive releases. LINKIN PARK... Meteora The Meteora was the successful follow-up to the band’s debut album, Hybrid Theory. This special RSD Black Friday version is pressed on limited edition aqua blue vinyl. - BILL EVANS Live at Ronnie Scott's (1968) Live at Ronnie Scott's (1968) is the third official Resonance release of previously unissued recordings of the Bill Evans trio with Eddie Gomez and Jack DeJohnette. The recordings that comprise this release come from the personal archives of drummer Jack DeJohnette, who has had them in storage for over 50 years, and the nearly 2 hours of music have been meticulously remastered from the original tape reels. Live at Ronnie Scott's was captured in December of 1968, six months after their legendary performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival and Resonanceâs long-lost studio session Some Other Time from the Black Forest. The deluxe limited-edition 2LP set will include never-before-published original artwork by David Stone Martin on the album cover, plus an extensive booklet with rare photos, essay by the esteemed British writer Brian Priestly, a conversation between Chick Corea and Jack DeJohnette, interview with Eddie Gomez, and more. - See more

Black Friday hours - 8 AM to 3 PM at World Records! - Black Friday - and its own list of Record Store Day exclusive releases. SHARON JONES & THE DAP-KINGS... Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Rendition Was In) Throughout their career, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings remained in high demand both publicly and privately to recreate and often re-imagine songs by other artists. More often than not, these covers were recorded by request, commissioned for placement in movies, television programs, tribute albums, or for samples. This album compiles some of their most popular and some never-before-heard renditions Though the band mostly built their career on a prolific catalog of originals, these forays into other artists' compositions lay bare their gift for arrangement and the unmatched studio prowess that earned them their reputation as The Baddest Band in the Land. - THE ROLLING STONES Let It Bleed - Special Pressings The Rolling Stones’ groundbreaking multi-platinum selling album Let It Bleed was released in late 1969, charting at #1 in the UK and #3 in the US. It perfectly captures the ominous spirit of the times with Gimme Shelter, the opening track. The 2019 remaster has been engineered by eleven-time Grammy-winning mastering engineer Bob Ludwig. Each copy of this exclusive collector's edition is handcrafted on the press, using layers of color on top of one another to create a truly unique edition. Due to the nature of the manual process to pour each color onto the press by hand, each piece is unique in design. Hand-numbered Certificate of Authenticity included. - See more

Hello there Ladies & Gentlemen, Record Store Day 2020, Part Two is tomorrow/Saturday September 26. We will be open from 8 AM to 2 PM so you can flip through the RSD titles we have on hand, while they last. Here’s a sampling, including the RSD description:... PAUL MCCARTNEY McCartney One of the greatest solo debuts in rock history, Paul McCartney’s McCartney, will receive a special 50th anniversary release in a limited-edition half-speed mastered vinyl pressing for Record Store Day. Originally released in April 1970, one month before The Beatles’ swansong Let It Be, McCartney saw Paul getting back to basics. Writing every song and playing every instrument (with backing vocals from Linda McCartney), the eponymous album represented a creative rebirth, bursting with new ideas, experiments, playfulness and freedom. Sonically, McCartney’s bare-bones home recording aesthetic imbued the album with an authentic lo-fi spirit, a much sought after sound that continues to retain a contemporary edge 50 years on. The 50th anniversary Record Store Day limited edition of McCartney was pressed from a master cut by Miles Showell at half speed using the original 1970 master tapes at Abbey Road Studios. It was made as a vinyl specific transfer in high resolution and without digital peak limiting for the best possible reproduction. THE DOORS The Soft Parade: Stripped The Doors fourth studio album, originally released in 1969. Here, for the first time on vinyl, it’s just The Doors, with the brass and strings removed. FLEETWOOD MAC The Alternate Rumours The album of alternate takes mirroring the original album, from the Rumours deluxe edition. Alternate takes include early versions and alternate versions for Gold Dust Woman, The Chain, Don’t’ Stop, Dreams and Second Hand News. On vinyl for the very first time. SQUIRREL NUT ZIPPERS The Inevitable The members of the band mostly just call it jazz, or hot music, or, when they’re feeling naughty, race music a term that dates back to the1920s and ’30s, when major record labels released jump blues and hot jazz singles under special subsidiary imprints with names like Okeh and Sepiatone. It’s music that doesn’t really have a name anymore, yet everyone recognizes it and loves it. This wasn’t the album that made the Squirrel Nut Zippers a household name (that honor goes to Hot, the follow-up), but it sure could have if given the chance. An instrumental with the pitch-perfect title of Lugubrious Whing Whang, cover versions of You’re Drivin’ Me Crazy and I’ve Found a New Baby, originals like Lover’s Lane, and the absolutely hair-raising La Grippe these are not just labors of love by dewy-eyed nostalgists. The SNZs have taken this music and appropriated it entirely, without a trace of irony or condescension. The result is magnificent. First ever vinyl release for the album. See more

Stuck inside these four walls... Hello there Ladies and Gentlemen - As I opened up World Records early Saturday morning, October 24 for Record Store Day, I noticed the neon reflection on our new welded entry (Created by childhood friend Bill Burton.), and how great the new sidewalk looked (Expertly handled by childhood friend Tony Arvizu.) and I said, "Hey, I need to get a photo of that!... CONCERTS I hear it from customers/friends often, "I miss the concerts, and I miss seeing all the friends at the concerts!" No kidding! Me too. Just like rest of the country and beyond, our concert schedule keeps sliding further down the calendar. Our February, March, and April shows are now being moved. I have my fingers crossed that concerts can resume May, 2021, and World Records can make it that far. RECORD STORE Once tours cancelled, album releases went on hold. Even though touring still waits, lots of delayed releases are now coming out. Here are some to consider: BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN & THE E STREET BAND - Letter to You TOM PETTY - Wildflowers and All the Rest A Tribute to JIMI HENDRIX - Stone Free DION - Blues with Friends JOHN LENNON - Gimme Some Truth JOHN PRINE - Prime Prine - The Best of John Prine JOE BONAMASSA - Royal Tea DOLLY PARTON - A Holly Dolly Christmas Coming December 11th - 50 years after the release of his first solo album, 'McCartney,' where Paul played every instrument, and wrote every song, Paul McCartney will release McCartney III. Paul used Covid "Rockdown" to once again write a new album, and play every instrument on it. The first shipment will be a limited run on white vinyl. Oooh! Let me know if you need one of these. They won't last long. I intend to send out another list of new releases next week, as we head toward Thanksgiving, and the next rollout of Record Store Day titles on Black Friday. Thank you for doing your part to spread kindness in our community! Pat

World Records update Hello there Ladies and Gentlemen - I hope you are doing well. Good time to spread kindness to people in need, and reach out to people who are isolated. Good time to count blessings. -... I get lots of calls from folks wondering how World Records is doing. That's nice. We're doing fine, pandemic fine. Customers old and new are curbside shopping at World Records for new and used LPs and CDs, turntables and record players seat. Some people might prefer this from now on, making a call and I bring their purchase out to their car. Kind of a World Records drive-thru. - We're blessed with customers who enjoy spending their money in their own town. Many like to call and put me on hunts for musical treasures. - We're also blessed with friends who want to help. Chana and Patty made some beautifully hip face masks for us. Gregg buys two CDs every Friday - "I'm going to make this record store see the other side of this pandemic!" Cash support has been handed to me by Patty and Robert, Jeff, Maria, Ms. Anonymous, Kurt and Cheryl, and Wendy. Bryan bought a stack of World Records shirts and spread them around on his vacation trip. Thank You everybody! - Mrs. World Records just finished a tough, tech-heavy time teaching summer school. Thank you Bonnie! - So, how is World Records doing? We're doing as well as the community that keeps us here. Same as always. - It's time for World Records' annual two week break. Peter gave us his van. Dana gave us a place to park it up in the mountains. So Bonnie and I are going to drive around, listen to music, and live out of the van for a couple weeks. I'll be back at World Records July 29. Thank you for shopping local, and being part of World Records. Thank you for waiting for your LPs and CDs until we return. If any music requests come to mind while we are gone, please email me. I'll get right on getting your requests ready when I return. - Here's a newly released home demo by Tom Petty to enjoy - https://youtu.be/D-g_THmIqI8 See more

It had been quite a six and a half year haul from the time we signed the contract to buy the building until that wonderful opening night. - There...Continue reading
