Some of us have been fortunate enough to drink their coffees here in the U.S. at coffee houses like Blue Bottle. METAD's growth and expansion means supporting thousands of families in Ethiopia, while providing authentic, delicious coffees for aficionados (like me).

Dear family and friends: Last month I informed you that the limited release of our exceptional Organic Hambela Sun-dried Pea Berry Coffee at Trader Joe's. I'm h...appy to report that thanks to you and other coffee lovers, they're all sold out. This means, you've indirectly contributed to our community development efforts: supporting over 1,500 elementary school students in Hambela and Yirgacheffe (Gedeb); giving scholarships to disadvantaged university students; building roads, schools and community center; distributing CBD resistant, high-yielding coffee seedlings to the out-growers for free (thus far, over 600 thousand seedlings): providing Pre- and Post-harvesting training to 6,500 Out-growers; providing extension support to the out-growers, paying premium and making 2nd payments at the end of the season; giving special attention to women related programs, including partnering with Grounds-for-Health, a US-based NGO working with coffee farming communities to eradicate cervical cancer in women, hiring more women at the farm (70% during harvesting); certifying the out-growers’ coffees (Organic & UTZ); supporting over 65,000 household members, etc. That's why I feel it is crucial to recognize and thank the Specialty Coffee partners such as Intelligentsia, Blue Bottle, Peet’s, Terarosa, Doutor, Coffee Collective, Royal, Belco, any many others too numerous to list here. We could not have done any of our community programs without the support of our partners.
