Once a year the world acknowledges & celebrates women & girls all around the globe, down the street & across the table - voices, eyes & hearts turned upward for all to witness! And, here, 365 days a year the community of dedicated women who are WCLA empower girls & women and hold the vision of turning dreams into reality! Today we stand with women throughout the world in unison, strength & joy! Happy International Women's Day!

WCLA is proud to partner with the Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center and serve the South Los Angeles community! Thank you to the Wooten Center’s Executive Director, Ms. Naomi McSwain, for the warm welcome to WCLA and our mentors! We’re honored to bring our Girls to Grads Mentoring program to the Wooten Center’s high school girls and for our mentors to provide each girl the support and guidance needed to pursue their goal of a college education.

Please shuffle the cards, cut the deck -- and join us for WCLA's Annual Poker Tournament. Play your luck for fine wine, limited edition art work - and of course a visit to the spa. The true winnings - supporting women and girls build positive and "lucky" futures for themselves! Hope you can join us!

This month, we're celebrating YOU! April is #NationalVolunteerMonth, and WCLA would like to take the time out to appreciate all of those who serve their communities! Your support does not go unnoticed! According to an article from the #HuffingtonPost, The Bureau of Labor Statistics found that "more than 64 million people volunteered at least once between September 2010 and September 2011. The Corporation for National and Community Service says it's collectively dedicated... 8.1 billion hours to a wide variety of organizations. That donated time and expertise is valued at $173 billion!" So just know that whatever work you do in the community, no matter how small, contributes a great deal to the improvement of our world!
