Did you know that certain foods can aid in your recovery? Most people don't think about the types of foods they should be eating to help them with their recovery but making just a few changes to your diet can make a world of difference. Why wouldn't we want to do everything we can to make sure we succeed? Nutrients play a huge role when it comes to brain chemistry. If you eat unhealthy it will carry over into your mood. If you eat a well balanced diet it can improve your mood... while helping your mind and body get back to normal. Below are a few foods you can add to your daily routine to improve your life. Blueberries: They are full of antioxidants. Antioxidants will boost your immune system and in turn will help clear the toxins that have been stored in your body. Yogurt: Yogurt is great because of the probiotics that will help restore your gut from all the damage that things like alcohol and opiates have done. PRO TIP: Make sure you get sugar free / plain yogurt. Sugar will actually kill the probiotic bacteria in yogurt. You can add your own fresh fruit right before you eat to give it some flavor. Fish: Fish is loaded with the amino acid tyrosine. Your body can't process tyrosine well when using drugs and alcohol. This is a big deal because tyrosine is key for the neurotransmitters, dopamine and norepinephrine, which give you mental clarity and well being. These are just a few foods that can jumpstart your recovery. If you're serious about adding a healthy diet to your recovery process you can always reach out to us for more information. Either through DM, phone, or link in our bio. Our awesome team of experts is here to help. What are some of your favorite healthy foods?

Have you had your "Come to Jesus" moment? That's what NFL Super Bowl Champion Brett Favre called his. Many times that's what it takes to want to change. What many people don't know is that he struggled with opiate addiction during his NFL career. After having multiple injuries and surgeries he became addicted to vicodine. "It snuck up on me. It was two pills that gave me a buzz, and then it was four," Favre said. "At its peak, I was taking 16 Vicodin ES all at one time." His ..."come to Jesus" moment was after the 1995 season where he suffered a seizure while in the hospital for ankle surgery. He spent 75 days in an inpatient rehab facility and has over 20 years of sobriety. People from all walks of life go through struggles. The important thing to keep in mind is that you don't need to hit rock bottom to reach out for help. What are some of your "come to Jesus" moments? Please share it with us down below! . . . . . #windwardway #treatmentcenter #addictionrecovery #addictiontreatment #recovery #recoveryispossible #recoveryjourney #recoverycommunity #recoveringaddict #recoverysupport #rehab #sobriety #soberlife #alcoholicsanonymous #narcoticsanonymous #cleanandsober #soberliving #sobermovement #gettingclean #gethelp #gethealthystayhealthy #gethealthynow #addictionsupport #supportgroup #supportgroups
