It has been over 10 years since the ranch first opened its door for educational tours. Each year has been special and we have worked hard to make your visits memorable. None of this would have been possible without our incredible volunteers. They work all week to make your visit special. But as hard as each of these amazing people work,, it is just not enough. There just are not enough volunteers to keep going. Maybe it's Covid or the weather or just the fact that we all have busy lives but whatever it is, we just cannot keep going. The ranch is officially closed effective immediately. We will be available by appointment for group tours and field trips and hope to plan some special days in the future, but for now, we all just want a Saturday at home with our families. We will miss each of you and so will the animals.
First family portrait. Baby mouflon are the cutest. Come on out and meet this special little one. We are open every Saturday through October from 10 - 3.
We had a couple of productive days Monday & Tuesday. The waters are all clean from the horrible wind last week. Some pens were cleaned and animals loved! Peg was out and finished the mural, It looks great! Trinity helped with the waters (you can see who is helping her when she is trying to clean the camel water.) Some camels are back that were on loan the last couple of months. Earl the Emu is sitting on 10 eggs, that will hatch about the middle of March! The weather was great the past 2 days, nice to be out there!
Happy hump day. Cupid is growing up so fast! Can you see his hump? Bison have humps not to store fat but for balance. Without that hump Cupid might tip over due to the massive head he will have when he is fully grown.
Sunset at the ranch. The only thing missing is you on the back of a camel. Sunset Treks start March 1. Follow California Camel Treks for information.
Volunteering at the ranch can be rough. You never know what you will get stuck doing. Poor Makenzie had to sit with the fallow deer and feed them carrots. The deer really loved the attention. Thanks Makenzie.
FYI...update. The pancake breakfast fundraiser needs to be delayed due to the Covid guidelines. We will post when we have more info.
Tuesday was a special day! We gave a group of ladies a private tour of the ranch. This was to say "Thanks!" to them for painting the rocks for Halloween. These were given as prizes for the scavenger hunt and sold, all proceeds going to The Animal Education Center @ Windswept Ranch. The rocks were amazing and we cannot thank them enough!
Here is a fundraiser that is being held to help the ranch!!!!! We would really appreciate any support you could provide. Thanks!
It's happening!
What on earth is all this stuff doing at the ranch?
