Help fill their stockings! Since we are unable to do our usual wishing tree this year we have decided to do a virtual Help fill their stockings for a fun way for our dogs to get a special gift for Christmas. We will be posting a dog’s story a day and would love your help to make their Christmas a little brighter as they wait for their forever homes.... Madogga was rescued from a high kill shelter and she will be having puppies very soon. This girl is mellow and sweet. She walked easily on the leash and was very affectionate. Let’s help get this extremely pregnant lady some items from her wishlist: A quiet foster home to raise her puppies Dog bed Blanket Canned puppy food to help her put on some weight Amazon wishlist: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/13CHJW314S29J

Hey there, I'm Angie. Are you looking for a hiking buddy and a happy camper? I love exploring the outdoors!! My idea of heaven is a day at the river, or out camping in the mountains. I think dog parks are boring and overrated. I may not like other dogs (or cats), but I LOVE people!! I'm chill with all kinds of humans, and I love to hang out with the group. I've had it rough, but I'm still such a trooper! My humans moved out of our apartment and left me behind when I wa...s full-term pregnant! I was all alone when I gave birth to three puppies without care, food or water. It was days before the local shelter found me and my newborns. By that time, we were all in such bad shape. Sadly, none of my babies survived. I don't let it get me down though, I'm still a great dog and I have such potential in the hands of the right owner! I would love a furever home for the Howlidays!

Update: Adopted November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month! Luna and Lexy are sisters. Their owner is 78 and moving in with family in Nebraska. Her son didn’t want to bring the dogs into his home, so they surrendered them to us. ... Lexy and Luna are spayed, microchiped, UTD on vaccines and ready to find a new family. Lexy & Luna aren’t exactly seniors at 7 and just 4 years old but they made us want to bring up a different discussion you should be having, what will happen to my pets if something were to happen to me? We have had SEVERAL owner surrenders recently due to the owners age, being placed in a care home, ect. It usually leaves the dogs confused and heart broken. What is your plan for your pets if something happened to you? Providing for Your Pet’s Future Without You: https://www.petfinder.com//bringing/providing-pets-future/

Phoenix and Navin came from a horrible hoarding situation. They and over 20 small dogs were rescued in July 2019! Phoenix is looking for a home that is adopting to give a dog love, not the other way around. It will take time, patience, and understanding to help her become a loving family member. She’s still learning to trust humans and finds A LOT of comfort in her buddy Navin. Navin is also a bit shy, but warms up much more quickly. They have both done well with other dogs ...and cats. It’s always harder and takes longer to get bonded pairs adopted. These two have been through enough that we’ve decided they need to stick together.

Dumping animals outside of a rescue is not an option.... it's a crime!!! You could be fined $1,000 or spend six months in jail OR both! We really don’t want to see comments with they are doing their best by leaving them with you or at least they didn’t dump them on the side of the road To be frank, those comments feel like a blow to the face. We don’t have unlimited funds or space. No one reached out to ask for help. Rescue is hard. We do our best! ... We need financial support to help fund these cats. We need moral support to keep us strong. We need adopters to help us continue rescuing. Please spay and neuter your pets to help with the overpopulation. Low cost spay and neuter: Wags and Whiskers: 530-895-8888 Trap and release program for ferals: Neighborhood Cat Advocates at (530) 324-2292. Financial assistance to pet owners who can not afford the cost: Paws of Chico: 530-895-2109

Meet Phantom and Surge, our 10 year old cats who are both troopers! These boys were on the euthanasia list at a shelter down South, but before they had the chance to put these babies to sleep, our vet went and saved their lives! Despite the amazing personalities these two have, they also have diabetes which requires some additional care. Both are on the same special diet and need two insulin shots a day (which they aren’t bothered by at all) but don't let that scare you away...! They are some of the sweetest cats we’ve had the pleasure in caring for. Some days they aren’t feeling as well as others and can be quite lazy but from what we’ve seen they’d be good in almost any household to help transform them into happy and healthy cats once again. If you are interested in helping Phantom and Surge on their journey to find forever homes or have any questions, there are some links below that might help. We were recently notified of a dog named Aries in LA Who was on the kill list. He had been at the shelter 5 months. We saw him Saturday night and his euthanasia date was Sunday afternoon. We had a driver ready and willing, then we received a foster offer and our vet agreed to take on the medical case so we got to work! We partnered with another rescue and sprung Aries from the shelter. Our vet was in the area and actually picked him up from the shelter and assessed him righ...t away. Aries was dragging himself out. He couldn't put any weight on his back legs much less walk. The thing about Aries is that he hasn't always been in this condition. He walked into the shelter perfectly healthy and now is unable to walk. Unable to stand without feeling pain. Aries was left in a kennel for over FIVE MONTHS. No walks, no playgroups, no exercise. Zero attention, affection, or human interaction. He lost it and I don't blame him. He jumped, he cried and begged for attention so much that he damaged the nerves to his back leg and callused part of his tail. That's how small his kennel was. His tail could touch the walls and whenever he wagged his tail it would slam against the walls and bleed. Now that Aries is in our care our worse fears have been confirmed. The damage to his leg is too much and it can't be saved. His leg will need to be amputated and maybe even part of his tail. Despite the neglect Aries has received from humans he is nothing but love he wants to cuddle so bad. He begs for human interaction and affection. This rescue was a costly one but so so worth it. Please help us help Aries and consider making a tax-deductible donation towards his care. Purchasing an item from our medical needs wishlist is also a great way to help. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/IE0PCPGHVKZ2

Update: Her name is now Mercy and we got her in to see the vet today. He palpated her stomach searching for kittens but when he didn’t feel any he had other suspicions. It turns out mercy is not pregnant, she is actually very sick. Mercy has FIP. This means there’s is a virus attacking the cells in her intestinal wall. FIP causes accumulation of fluid in the abdominal cavity and the chest. Mercy has this in her abdomen. Unfortunately FIP is fatal and only has a 5% survival r...ate. We will continue to offer her supportive care while we still can My friend and I drove past the rescue on our way home tonight when a tiny crate next to the trash bin caught our eye. We pulled over hoping it was just a donation or a crate someone forgot to bring in. We thought surely no one would dump an animal in this extra small carrier and let it sit there all night. We thought wrong. I knew it the minute I got a closer look and saw a note on the carrier. Before even reading the note I lifted the carrier hoping it was weightless...it was heavy. I peeked in and saw two terrified eyes looking right at me. The look of heartbreak on my face and the cuss words coming out of my mouth is probably what scared her so much. The note reads Am unable to keep this 5 month old Maltese Blue Cat...hope you’ll find a GOOD HOME For her and her future kittens We were speechless She’s 5 months old!? She’s pregnant!? She’s in a tiny carrier!! Why would they leave her in such a small carrier!? Her kennel was filthy. It looks like she had been living in that carrier. She was covered in her own urine and miserable. We need all hands on deck for this rescue, she’s going to get a vet check first thing in the morning and then she’s going to need a foster home where this kitten can have her kittens. Please apply to foster at wagsandwhiskerspetrescue.com We could also use some items from our amazon wishlist https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3J9CJR2N8HT1Z

Update on the mamma that was abandoned along Feather River with her five pups. Momma, now named Feather, was such an incredible mom, we were all amazed at how healthy her puppies were considering they were left to fend for themselves. All puppies have been adopted and Feather is now ready to find the home she deserves. She has been doing awesome in her foster home that has provided her with structure, helping her gain confidence, and supervised socialization with other dogs ...and respectful kids. Feather is an awesome dog. She will probably need time to warm up to a new environment and let her personality shine through. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/7MHW3EG8CF9D

It’s amazing how resilient dogs can be! Happy doesn’t let being blind bring him down one bit. His name fits him perfectly because he really is such a happy boy. Happy enjoys exploring outdoors and gets around great using his nose and ears.... He likes being in a dog sling carrier for walks . He’s very people oriented and likes attention. Happy is ready to find his family and start living his best life! https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/165MQ17QN8BGH
