I made this design for the yoga lovers. If you want me to create a design with your start year, send me a message and I will. (See the other products the design is on in the next pictures.) Everyone has a story about how and why their yoga practice started. Here’s part of mine.... I started practicing yoga in 1999! An ex-hippie as he called himself was offering free ashtanga classes above an herbal store in Minneapolis. So thankful for him. He even emphasized the importance... of breath which a lot of practices don’t. With the breath, it’s exercise like no other- and can improve emotional, mental and physical health. I got hooked mainly because of the emotional benefits as I was pretty miserable in my work life at that time. Yoga has a way of clearing and calming your body and mind like no other movement does. Since then, I’ve tried every type of yoga out there but Ashtanga was what I always came back to and still practice regularly today. I later became a yoga teacher and Ayurvedic specialist. Thankful for the ex-hippie who said it was his way of giving back Gifts of love come from the people around you when you least expect it. See more

In Ayurveda, the word for health is svastha - which means established in oneself. For me, yoga has been the best route I've found to that.

When the diet is wrong, medicine is of no use. When the diet is correct, medicine is of no need." -Ayurvedic Proverb One of the cornerstones of good health according to Ayurveda is a healthy digestive system. All disease begins in the digestive system, and the body’s ability to build healthy tissue is directly related to the quality of digestion, so the optimization of digestion is always part of Ayurvedic treatment, no matter what the imbalance. The fire of digestion, in ...ayurvedic terms is called agni, which refers to the fiery transformative or metabolic energy that allows us to transform and assimilate food, impressions and experiences, or anything we take in. It also helps to eliminate the body of wastes, known as malas, and toxins, known as ama. It converts physical matter, which is dense into the subtler forms of energy the body needs to be vital and produce a clear mind and sattvic emotions. Agni is a pure form of fire in the body and is strongest in pitta body types and present in some metabolic pitta processes in the body and mind. There are 14 forms of agni in the body, the main form being the gastrointestinal or digestive juices, or fire. The digestive agni is like a burning fire, in that if the flame is low, or the agni is weak, it will take a long time to cook the food. In this state, there is not enough digestive power to metabolize food into energy and digestive problems result. On a subtler level, if agni is low, one cannot digest and transform external information into knowledge. The emotional and mental results of low agni are a foggy mind, anxiety and/ or depression, along with the discomfort of stomach pain, bloating or gas. Low agni can be caused by drinking ice-cold drinks, drinking too much before or while eating, undergoing too much stress, sleeping late or staying up past 10:30 or 11 pm, never exercising, and/or eating processed, frozen, or improperly prepared food. If the digestive fire is too strong, it can burn the food too quickly, creating too much internal heat and acid. High agni can be caused by too many spicy foods, cramming too much into a short time without allowing rest and rejuvenation, perfectionism and judgment, an overactive mind, or maintaining an excessively busy lifestyle. On a subtle level, high agni can manifest as irritability, anger and rage. And, dealing with those feelings along with the pains of stomach acidity or inflammation in the body is no picnic. I’ll post some other ways to balance Agni in my next post. See more

Love this juicing demo - you don’t need a juicer just a regular blender. Also, I’ve been using some of what’s left in the cheese cloth in soups just cuz I don’t like to waste except for beets . https://youtu.be/JGTZ1ofCRUk

Fascinating talk! Ayurveda focuses on the whole person, so I like listening to western medical professionals who also do so. https://youtu.be/tef5_HK5Zlc
