Patient of the Day: Canada Goose This goose had string wrapped around both of his legs for over a month. The rescuer called us a couple of times for advice on how to capture him and one of our volunteers even went out to try to capture him but unfortunately he flew away anytime they got close to him. The rescuer finally captured it and brought it in. We managed to get all of the string off and he is now on its way to recovery! He will be sent to International Bird Rescue tomorrow where they will continue his care!

Patient of the day: Common Poorwill Most of the time when this species comes into our center, there is actually nothing wrong with them. They are just a misunderstood species. They are ground dwellers and they cannot take flight from the ground. Observe them from a distance to see if it needs helps but if its just on the ground with no obvious injuries, then you can just let them be

Patient of the day: Western Pond Turtle We don't know exactly what happened to this turtle but it came in with a cracked shell and covered in leeches. We managed to get all of the leeches off, cleaned his shell and now we are working on repairing the crack!! Wish him luck!

Patient(s) of the day: Virginia opossum So many baby opossums! Fun fact: the baby with the purple ears is marked because he had an abscess and marking the ears is an easy way for us to know which one needs to get meds

Patient of the day: Horned Grebe This is a nonbreeding adult or an immature grebe since it doesn't have the distinctive black head with golden tufts. We highly recommend looking up what the breeding adults look like if you've never seen one!

Patient of the Day: Virginia Opossum This opossum is a darker coloration than normal. As you can see from the pictures, his fur is mainly black. This is a very rare coloration but it will not affect his survival rate, it just makes him a cutie!
