Training on our new OES Type 6 Engine tonight. This engine comes complete with a full set of vehicle extrication equipment or Jaws Of Life. These are Hurst battery powered tools matching what we currently have. This Engine will be used locally and throughout the state on large scale incidents including wildfires, floods and earthquakes. Our members must train and prepare for all scenarios. If you or someone you know would be interested in joining our team, please contact us.

White Mountain Fire Department was honored to receive one of the new Type 6 fire engines from the California Office of Emergency Services, Fire and Rescue Branch. These engines are loaned to departments for use within the local district as well as for mutual aid response throughout the state. This is the first time that Cal OES has been able to locate one in our local area. Thank you #caloes Chief Brian Marshall and Region VI Assistant Chief Randy Unkovich for their support in this assignment. This is testament to the commitment Cal OES has to providing the necessary resources for the protection of all areas of California.

Shout out to Chris Bell and his wife Sheri Pueblo. Chris was on the crew of White Mountain Fire Water Tender 3081 that worked through the night trying to save homes and property at the devastating Mountain View Fire. After volunteering his time at this fire, Chris was so moved by the destruction and loss, that he and his wife returned the following week and personally donated money to the victims of the fire. They then went on to spearhead a cash drive with the members of White Mountain Fire Department and others. Due to Chris and Sheri’s efforts, they were able to raise in excess of $13,000 dollars for the relief efforts for the fire victims. We, at White Mountain Fire Department are proud and humbled to have members like Chris and Sheri as part of our department.

The Bishop Volunteer Fire Department is launching a gift card drive to help make the holidays a little brighter for the hundreds of Mono County residents displa...ced by the Mountain View Fire, which devastated the Walker and Coleville communities on Nov. 17. There are 90 families who don’t have a home to celebrate Christmas in, said Fire Chief Joe Dell. These people are our northern neighbors, and we want to do something that will help them begin to rebuild their lives in the wake of Mono County’s most destructive fire. The community is invited to donate gift cards by dropping them off at the fire station at 209 W. Line Street, or the Bishop Police Department dispatch center located at the corner of Warren and Line streets. The most useful gift cards would be for stores in the Carson City area, such as Walmart, Costco, Target, Home Depot, Bed Bath and Beyond, and so on. Please drop the gift cards off by Dec. 15, and be sure to note how much the gift card is worth. When the Antelope Valley Fire Department called for aid for the Mountain View Fire, Inyo County’s volunteer firefighters responded with a task force of fire engines from Lone Pine, Big Pine and Bishop, led by Big Pine Fire Chief Damon Carrington. The wind that night was raging, reminiscent of the Round Fire that destroyed Swall Meadows in 2015. Previously, the Round Fire held the title for the most destructive fire in Mono County history, destroying 40 homes. The Mountain View Fire’s force flattened 90 homes and claimed one life. It came on the heels of the Slink Fire earlier this year, which threatened the Coleville area in September. For more information about the gift card drive, call the fire station during regular business hours, (760) 873-5485. As we are all aware, there was devastation visited on the Walker and Coleville Communities last week with a perfect storm of fire and historic winds. Many, many people have lost everything and have little in the way of resources to replace it. We would like to encourage our followers to help in any way they can. What is most needed now is financial assistance to cover the multitude of daily costs for living in this new reality. We have members of our organization that are... organizing fund raising efforts and will be offering whatever we can. If you can help financially please reach out to the Mountain View Fire Relief Fund. Checks may be made out directly to Northern Mono Chamber of Commerce, and mailed to: NMCC, 106651 US HWY 395, Coleville, CA 96107. Please note on the subject line: Mountain View Fire Relief. Contact the Northern Mono Chamber at 530.828.0826 or [email protected] for more information. You can also contact White Mountain Fire at [email protected] for further assistance in getting your donations to the fire victims. Thank you for all of your support! See more

Heartbreaking devastation in Walker, Ca.

White Mountain Fire Department 12.11.2020

Update on Mountain View Fire in Walker. We are hearing updated estimates of 80 homes lost and 20,000 acres. A very tragic day in Mono County.

White Mountain Fire Department 07.11.2020

Here are the wind speeds we were facing yesterday. 86 mph in Walker! Winds have slowed and some rain has moved in.

Horrific day in Walker, Ca. Crews from all over Mono County, Inyo County, Douglas County and beyond descended on the scene to fight this fire. Unbelievable winds made that a very difficult job. We are not sure exact wind speeds, but they were powerful enough to rip a door off of one of the responding engines. Many homes have been lost and at least one fatality. Let’s hope for some rain and lighter winds in the next 12 hours.
