Christmas time in New York is so magicalMy husband and I went there one year during the holidays and it was everything I dreamed it would be...and also FREEZING. That trip holds some very special memories for me so creating this holiday NY skyline invitation was so fun! Because the detail of this hand poured gold leaf resin card is too cool not to share. It was a lot of trial and error but ultimately we used a combination of gold vinyl, gold leaf, silver and black inks and a whole lot of patience to create last year's holiday card

It would truly be a disservice to not show you one more of these menu cardsWe wanted to have a huge impact with these; our goal was to create something that would scream SPRING! Having beautiful botanicals pressed between acrylic did just that! What do you think?!

As promised, here is the close up from Saturday's gorgeous table! This fairytale shoot was full of romance. We created a few different shapes of blush paper and laser cut intricate lace patterns to mount the menu card. Each place setting had a little variety which added to the uniqueness of the over look of the table! We adore how these turned out!

Destination weddings enable us to pull elements from both the landscape of the destination as well as the culture. Continuing on with our series of this awesome Tulum wedding invitation, we wanted to show you this special detail. The couple wanted to honor the Mayan culture so we created this geometric Mayan inspired pattern for the outside of the box and carried it through the whole design. We used neutrals and natural textures while adding a touch of gold foil for that subtle metallic bling!

We just couldn't wait another second to share this gorgeous invitation with you in all of its glory! So much thought, time and labor went into these beauties that they needed their own little movie debut. Nick and Addie have a special wedding planned at a super unique resort in Tulum. Over the next few days we will take you down the road of creating their invitations and how we achieved some of the elements to fit their venue!

I'm going to be honest- this week has been a tougher one for me (and it's only Tuesday!) Between news with schools staying closed, many establishments closing again here in San Diego and additional postponements it is a bit hard to look at the bright side, and that is okay. Am I discouraged that we are taking 10 steps backward here is California? Absolutely. Am I blessed to have a healthy family and a husband that still has a job? Absolutely. I am totally blessed and totally bummed and that is okay. I know things will get better, I know this isn't forever but I also know it is okay to mourn the loss. So today, I am going to do that... and maybe bake some cookies with this little cutie to make myself feel better.

Wedding planners work hard but that just means they get to play hard! A pool party at the iconic Lafayette Hotel needed a fabulously fun invite so check out these wooden sunglass framed invites that we came up with! They are tropical and playful and set the tone for the lunch + lounging that would take place! Hand drawn by yours truly is a portrait of the hotel and custom die cut invites attached to the back of the frames. Slip that into the coral envelope accented with pool side blue stripes and you've got party perfection!

Message in a bottle Doesn't that song by The Police pop into your head when you see this cute invite? If it didn't, it probably is now...you're welcome! This 40th birthday party was held in the Bahamas! What a better way to send out the invite than via message in a bottle for a true island feel! The invite itself had burnt edges for that authentic castaway feel, placed inside a glass bottle filled with tiny shells and a cute jute wrapping around the neck with the custom laser etched wood tag for the final touch! We placed the bottle inside an awesome laser etched wood box filled with jute. This presentation was a jaw dropper for their guests!

What takes months and months of sketching, re-sketching, tweeking, getting feedback and diving deep into your brand?? A NEW LOGO! When I first started Whimsique, I based the name off of the two words whimsy and unique. At the heart I wanted the company to reflect being experiential, playful and one of kind with limitless possibilities. When it came time to rebrand, I wanted our new appearance to reflect these things, but playfully! Imagine this, when... you were a child and you picked up a dandelion and puffed those thousands of tiny flying fluffs into the air, you sent your hopes and dreams soaring out hoping they would land and grow. We incorporated the dandelion in our new branding because that is our hope for our clients and couples, that they can send all of their hopes and dreams flying at us and we can catch them, creating something meaningful. Giving them a tangible memory for a truly magical time in their lives. Rebranding doesn’t come quickly or easily. I'm so grateful to so many people who helped along the way (talking to you paper posse!). It has been such a rewarding journey that we can’t wait to continue rolling out over the next few weeks! Blush pink is one of the most popular wedding colors. The color combos with it are endless and because of the romantic coloring it will never go out of style. Here it is paired with greenery and lavender in the florals. The blush color was pulled down to the actual table setting with the menus and laser cut blush table luminaries- keeping the theme soft and intimate.

I started Whimsíque about 10 years ago. One of the main reasons was because I did not like working for someone else and feeling like my ideas and vision didn't matter as much as it should. I also liked trying new things and taking different approaches and was told by my supervisors we couldn't do that where I worked, that the art department I was in needed to continue to do what we always did. . I started to feel this huge need to create something for myse...lf, I needed a challenge and I wanted the flexibility to be home for my future children and take my path the way I wanted instead of waiting for someone else to recognize my efforts. . It was scary, it has been hard but it is exactly what I was supposed to do and I wouldn't change a thing. The right thing won't always be the easy thing and most likely you'll be scared out of your mind but life would be so boring if we always took the easy or predictable path wouldn't it? See more
