"If you grasp the wisdom that is contained in the workings of the universe and expressed in the realm of philosophy, you will be able to safeguard your physical health." - The Book of Songs (Shijing)

"In my 4th summer of ALS I am healed by music and vulnerability...healing comes in many guises. We're healed by the touch of a friend, we're healed by the touch of a child. And healing does not imply that your life is suddenly going to lose all of the struggle, all of the challenge. What it does instead is, it strengthens us for what is next. But to be open to healing, means to be vulnerable, and if you look at me you know I'm what can be called a vulnerable adult, the cat do...esn't even listen to me anymore. I have no real sense of control anymore. The choice could be to resent this, to be frustrated by this, and I there are times when I am, I promise. But I think the grater choice is the fact that once you embrace your vulnerability you are open to such beauty. And in the end, isn't this one of the things that makes us human? The ability to make, to perceive, to live in beauty?" ~ Bruce Kramer from and interview with Krista Tippett See more

Just listened to a poignant podcast which was an interview with Jean Vanier, during the interview he says..."there are so many things we don't know, I just have to honor what we don't know. There are so many things I can't explain, because explanation is about headiness, we want to have it in the head. But the whole question is not to understand, but it is to be attracted to the place of pain, in order to support those who are suffering. If we try to know too much, it may cut us off from being present, and according to where I am at, and who I am, it is vital to be present..."

One of the best thing you can do for your health is avoid "fake" anything. Sugar is bad enough for us in huge quantities, fake sugar can have even more hideous effects. Likewise for "fake" flavor and fake colors. Eat as many whole, organic unprocessed foods as possible. https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=846676655369156&id=814756661894489

Today, an estimated 70-80 percent of all antibiotics sold in the United States are used for the single purpose of fattening up farm animals." ~ Martin J Blaser, Missing Microbes: How the Overuse of Antibiotics is Fueling our Modern Plagues. Note, these antibiotics are not used to help sick animals, they are not there to fight disease, the are given with feed purely to raise weight gain 5-15 percent. For this small benefit, we increase bacterial resistance by leaps and bounds.... This speaks not only to the importance of reducing our own use of antibiotics but also to the importance of having eating organically as much as possible. Sweden banned this practice in 1986 and the European Union stopped it in 1999. But US food producers and pharmaceutical companies have to date stonewalled the elimination of this practice.

There are some of us for which gluten is a problem, but for most of us, perhaps the problem is something else altogether.

We thought for a long time that the reason why acupuncture worked was just because people believed it worked, Vickers, a researcher at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, said... We now know that the effect of acupuncture goes above and beyond the placebo effect. Acupuncture is a reasonable option for chronic pain.

Gleason Ranch: Risking Everything tells the story of two sisters in Bodega, California struggling to keep their 150 year-old, 5th-generation family ranch alive after the sudden death of their parents. Filmmaker Morgan Schmidt-Feng has been documenting the unfolding story of Gleason Ranch for over 4 years. Help the film reach its completion with some support! Morgan Schmidt-Feng is my beloved uncle and has been a documenter of events both family and not, for as long as I have ...known him. To me he is a model for the ability to engage with anyone and show that he genuinely is interested in the perspective that their life brings to us all. Please take some time to follow the link below and see if you can help bring this film to fruition. Thank you! I apologize for the double post but this is that important to me. A bunch of local businesses have teamed up with the film to offer up services and prizes for the donor of the day. Today it's Spoon Korean restaurant. Two of the days, I will be offering three free treatments to the donor of the day so keep an eye out for that.

Question: Why Meditate? Answer, from my teacher Lonny Jarrett: "I meditate one hour every morning from 6-7am. I consider meditation to be the foundation of a sane life. It has shown me the difference between consciousness and the objects in consciousness. It helps create space and perspective around my experience and diminishes the collapsing of perspective when under stress. In this way there is an ever increasing freedom to choose responses that are inspired by my ideals rather than ones that are motivated by habit."

I have a slight objection to the use of the word real because if a woman ha a baby no matter what her body looks like is a real body but, the project spoken about in the article is great and I hope it helps counter some of the less than great conditioning available in the main stream media.
