What The Foot Wednesday In honor of #diabetesawarnessmonth Today’s #WhatTheFoot pic was a type 2 diabetic male that came in for a wound on the top of his foot because he had worn some tight shoes for to long. Dr. Hawkins debrided the wound and applied several applications of amniofill which stimulated the wound to heal. Thanks to Doctor Hawkins this patients foot healed to help get him back on his feet! Dr. Pasaboc has been with Stockdale Podiatry group for a whopping 27 years dating back to February of 1993! Through the years Dr. Pasaboc has helped change many lives as well as been an outstanding Doc here at SPG. It all began in 1986 where Dr. Pasaboc attended University of California Riverside where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. Doc also earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine, where he also went on to received his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine. Some of Dr. Pasaboc’s honors and achievements include; 1992-1993 Eastman Kodak Company Award for Proficiency in Radiology, 1991 -1992 Associate Editor-In-Chief, First Ray, and 1992-1993 Certificate of Service for Dedicated Contribution to the Homeless Foot Care Program. Dr. Pasaboc is also fluent in five languages including English, Spanish, Romanian, German, and Arabic. Here is some more great work done by our very own expert foot Doc, Dr. James Teela! Read down below to see what happened. This patient came to SPG after the patient had twisted an ankle and heard a pop and crack. The patient had let me know that their ankle had began to swell and bruise. I explained to this patient that I was trained in percutaneous ankle fixation and that the hardware would never be felt as it would all be buried within the bones. I then explained that ...this would only take 3 small 1cm incisions that would heal quickly and that this procedure would allow the patient the ability to immediately begin walking again. With minimal incision surgery one will heal at an accelerated rate and with much less post-op complications such as infections and post healing pain. Also, I let the patient know that the traditional need for additional surgery to remove the hardware would not be necessary. This patient opted to have the surgery and in 4 weeks was back to basic daily activities in shoes, and had the ability to run in 6 weeks. -Dr. Teela Wow Doc, that’s some amazing work there! What The Foot Wednesday Today’s pic involves A diabetic patient who had uncontrolled sugar levels as well as an infection that had spread throughout the foot. Keep on reading to see how our expert Doc, Dr. Teela, handled this situation with care and perfection, and performed an excellent surgical repair on this patient’s foot. Dr. Teela identified the infection as necrotizing fasciitis with gas gangrene. Dr. Teela quickly explained to the patient and their family that sur...gery was needed immediately. Dr. Teela examined the second toe was damaged severely and the infection was spreading. Dr. Teela feared the patient would lose his leg and his life. Dr. Teela performed surgery immediately amputating the patients 2nd toe and removing all flesh above his foot tendons and packing the infection tracts into his leg. Dr. Teela not only successfully stopped the spread of the infection and saved the patients foot but gave the patient better quality of life. The patient now has nearly normal function in his foot and Dr. Teela personally coaches the patient about living with diabetes and the patient is no longer on diabetic medicine, changing their life completely.
