The Yolo County Library believes that Black Lives Matter. We stand in solidarity with those protesting, grieving, suffering and struggling against systemic poli...ce violence and structural racism. We recognize and own the long history of racist practices at public libraries generally and at the Yolo County Library specifically, and we commit to doing better and to implementing anti-racist practices throughout our organization. We will conduct a comprehensive assessment of our organization through a racial equity lens to align our practices with our beliefs. We commit to providing an update in six months on what we've done so far and what work is still to come. We also condemn the widespread police attacks on protesters and journalists over the past week and reaffirm our commitment to First Amendment rights including freedom of the press and the right of citizens to protest without fear of police violence or escalation. Yolo County Library Updates: Starting Monday, June 1st, we will have a number of permanent staff return to work in our buildings. For the foreseeable future, permanent staff will continue to split their time working on-site and teleworking. Beginning Monday, June 8th, we will open our book returns and accept items at all locations except South Davis Montgomery and Patwin. At the Mary L. Stephens Davis Branch Library, we will accept book returns Monda...y Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. In the next few weeks, we will begin offering a contactless curbside service. We will announce the details soon! All on-site library programs, meetings, events, and community room reservations have been cancelled through September 30th. If you have borrowed library items, we have extended the due dates to July 15th and are waiving all late fees. We are NOT accepting book donations at this time.
