We would just like to say, We have the best customers! Thank you all for being respectful and so patient during these unusual times. Be safe and enjoy your gardens.

Few people stop to consider just how much fresh food is grown by home gardeners in California every year. According to the USDA Floriculture Report for 2018, $25,306,000 worth of vegetable starts were reported by growers. From this we calculate that around 46 million vegetable plants were grown from young plants purchased from garden supply stores in California. This correlates to approximately 230 million pounds of fresh produce produced locally. Adding in the production... of vegetables grown directly from seed, a conservative estimate of food grown by home gardeners in our state amounts to 300 million pounds! Flowers also are part of food production because they provide nectar to maintain pollinating insects. Feeding bees by planting flowers is critical to enhancing the pollination of food-bearing plants. No pollinators-no food! Pollinators must be sustained from season to season. Flowering plants too are vital to our food supply.

We first and foremost hope that you all are healthy and navigating your way through this incredibly tough time the best you can. We just wanted to give you a quick update on the nursery and what your shopping options are. We are open for business from 9-5 Monday through Saturday and 9-4 on Sunday. We have signs everywhere and ask that you please respect the 6' social distancing and if you are sick please stay home. We have tape on the floor around our register to mark waiting... spots to check out and hand sanitizer on the counter. Given that we have a few acres everybody has plenty of space and our amazing customers have been very respectful and patient. We also have closed our restrooms and the checkout experience does not require you touch anything but your own credit card. Another option is Apple pay and our terminals accept the new cards where you just put it over the machine. We are offering curbside/driveway pick up, where you place your order ahead of time and simply call us when you are in the parking lot and we will bring out your order. We also offer delivery as well and are trying our best to get it to you within two days, usually next day. If you are interested in either of these options it is best if you email us your order and we will get back to you with what we have and possible subs. [email protected] Veggies are right up there with the toilet paper aisle at the supermarkets. We are literally getting deliveries every day, but still having trouble keeping up with the demand. I expect this to get better as the weather warms up and our suppliers get a little help from mother nature pushing along the crops. For this reason we do not have a veggie list posted on our website, it is just too hard to keep it accurately updated. I do plan on getting a generic list of what we normally carry in the next few days up on our website on the fruits and veggies page. As we all know, our veggies and flowers are only as good as our soil. We are making sure we have lots of E.B. Stone Flower and Veggie mix and our favorite smelly friend, Paydirt. As a member of True Value Hardware we have been trying to maintain our stock of cleaning supplies, sanitizers, masks and gloves amongst other things, but once again this has been tough. Looking like by the middle of the month we will be in good shape again. It's times like this that really drive home what a great community we live in and how lucky we are to have all of you loyal customers. We hope that your garden brings you joy and shows you there is light at the end of the tunnel. I wanted to share with you a letter from one of our best suppliers about just how important home agriculture is to our food chain. Take Care Chris
