Thank-you Rob McCorkle for your anointed words on prophetic ministries. ‘The term prophetic can raise many concerns in the minds of people, and it can elicit... images of abuse, manipulation, and charlatanism. Through out the centuries the enemy has always tried to counterfeit the authentic displays of God’s gifts and graces. However, the Bible cautions us to not quench the Holy Spirit and to not despise prophetic utterances (1 Thessalonians 5:19-20). The word despise carries the idea of disdain; or treating something with little or no value. While we must use discernment and test all spirits, we must also hold, embrace, and cherish the good (1 Thessalonians 5:21). In other words, we must learn to value genuine prophetic words. What, then, is a prophetic utterance? The word prophetic means to speak from inspiration; to declare something that’s been spoken to you by the Lord. The fact is, the Lord speaks to all believers. Jesus said His sheep hear His voice (John 10:27). If He speaks to us, then we can declare what He said. That is the essence of speaking prophetically. Words are not neutral. They carry life or death (Proverbs 18:21). How, then, are we to speak? We are commanded to speak words that impart grace (Ephesians 4:29). Grace implies life; words that release the power of heaven. Additionally, the Bible says our words are to be graciousfull of grace (Colossians 4:6). And Jesus said we’ll be held accountable for speaking careless (barren, idol, dead) words (Matthew 12:36)essentially, words that are void of grace. The only way I know how to speak grace-filled, life-giving words is by speaking only what the Lord tells me to say. That sounds a lot like Jesus, doesn’t it? He only spoke what the Father told Him (John 12:49). Now we’re starting to get an idea of speaking prophetically. I deeply desire to speak as the Father prompts me. Jesus lived in union with the Father; His life of intimacy shaped His entire ministry. At the end of His earthly ministry, He prayed that we would function in union with the Father, too (John 17:21). So, if we are intimate with our Father, and allow our speech to be governed by Him, then the words released from our mouth will be filled with grace and life. Sometimes the Father prompts me to speak something specific to peoplesuch as my neighbor. When I do, I’ve just spoken prophetically to them. I released a grace-filled, life-giving word that was prompted from heaven. Such a word is timely, anointed, accurate, and usually touches their heart. A few days ago, I did just that and ended up praying with my neighbor. Praise God! The Lord wants to govern not just our words, but our entire life. When we walk intimate with the Father and allow our entire life to be shaped by His guidance, we can live prophetically’. Blessings, Rob M.

Today is Aldersgate Day. It is the day when we remember that Bible Study on Aldersgate Street in London where John Wesley was attending. During their discussi...on of Luther’s notes on Romans, John Wesley writes his heart was strangely warmed. From that moment John Wesley was changed by our unchangeable God. His focus now was on the work of the Holy Spirit in one’s life. The Methodist movement would follow a course in proclaiming the work of the Holy Spirit in personal lives and in corporate bodies the Class meetings, the Societies, anywhere God’s word was spoken. Because of that meeting on Aldersgate Street the Methodist movement would be reminded of warmed hearts by the Holy Spirit even today. Let us be those people who walk in the Methodist movement today remembering the work of the Holy Spirit in John Wesley’s life. May we be open to such a movement of the Spirit in our lives and in the life of our churches. God be with us in our remembering and in our living out the call to the people named Methodists. To God be the Glory! - Ric Holladay

Amazing story and testimony... Up to this point there was so much trauma, confusion and disorientation it prevented Kathi from thinking about prayer. At the point she realized she was totally helpless, Kathi remembered to call out to God. This was the turning point, she says.
