In partnership with City Councilmember, Marqueece Harris-Dawson and LA Café, the Weingart YMCA Wellness & Aquatic Center hosted a Turkey/Grocery giveaway this past Saturday, and it was amazing! I’d like to thank, YMCA Board Member and LA City Deputy District Director Albizael Del Valle, City Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson, and all of their volunteers for putting this special event together for families in the community. Also, a special thank you to the Co-Owners of... the South LA Café, Celia & Joe Ward-Wallace, and all of their volunteers who prepared over 700 bags of groceries Friday evening for this event. We had another great community turnout for our Grab-N-Go Food Distribution event we had over the weekend at the Weingart YMCA Wellness & Aquatic Center. Despite the orangish sky looming over us, we were able to bring a little sunshine, food and music Saturday morning to a lot of smiling faces. We provided 750 meals and 100 Salad kits to our South LA families. A huge thank you to all of our volunteers, partners and sponsors that made this day special.
