Please join Reach Out in signing on to this important statement about protecting our communities and valuing the sacrifice of our healthcare workers. https://docs.google.com//1FAIpQLScK32x8Ai5JMztHLE/viewform There’s no way around it it’s time to accept the realities and bridge the divides. Because if we want our lives and normalcy back without such damning restrictions, then we each have to step-up to collectively crush COVID-19 together as a people! Yes, there is hope ...on the way via vaccines, but we are by no means out of the woods because full-circle COVID recovery is going to be a marathon, not just a race. #wearereachout #wearamask #covid-19 See more

Vivian shared, "The message I portray in my poem warns the public about keeping their distance and the how COVID can really affect people through a topic that has been around since the beginning of time. Romance. My poem turns the coronavirus into a a tangible person, a lady that breaks the heart of whomever she comes across. Her love, representing the disease, is infectious, and can leave a person in heartbreak. Taking something foreign like a new disease, and turning it into something recognizable might help the world truly envision the dangerous of this contagious virus." Michael shared, "Since the beginning of the Pandemic, all of the ads and words used to describe the virus were so dark and seemed to be geared more towards adults. with not much appeal to teens or children. So, I thought none better to demonstrate safety protocol than adorable penguins wearing adorable clothes! These times don’t need to be bleak- there is still so much in the world to be happy about, and looking at 2020 at a bad time will only bring us down. Most of all, this... piece demonstrates that we are ready to adapt to the challenges at hand- it may be a different way of living, but it can still be happy if we let it be." Megan shared, "The main focus of my work is a mother, father, or guardian helping a child wash their hands and doing their part in educating the child about the steps we can take by ourselves to prevent the spread of the virus. While younger children may not be fully aware of the purpose of these protocols, I felt that as older civilians we are obliged to teach them the importance of this; not only for their own health, but for the health of others in the community. In this way, we can all do our part together to prevent the spread of COVID-19." Congratulations Megan on winning best artwork over 18 in the Masks Are Medicine Art and Video Contest!
