Please join us as we celebrate former Explorer Lt. Justin Salas on his graduation from the U.S. Marine Corps Bootcamp (San Diego). Justin's graduation was on October 30th, however, due to COVID restriction, the ceremony was recorded and is posted to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego’s Facebook website: Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego Justin was in the 2nd Recruit Battalion Echo Company. We are exceedingly proud of all our explorers and get very excited when we see them achieve their dreams. Congratulations Marine
West Covina Police Explorers return to training. COVID-19 slowed us down for awhile, but did not break us. Explorers were excited to be back at the station.
Let's take a moment and talk about dedication, commitment, loyalty. It has been more than three months since Post #499 has met together in the same location. Over that same time period, the Explorers of Post 499 have continued to meet weekly for virtual training and community support. Post 499 supported and recently participated in the annual Jack Morenberg 5K Race (Virtually). #Post499DedicationCommitmentLoyalty #499HonorandPride
Celebrating those who crossed a milestone this year. Graduations didn't look like they have in the past, yet we pushed on and recognize the hard work of these explorers.
You can achieve your goals, and we can help. West Covina Police Explorer Post #499 #HonorandPride
Post #499 has a long history of graduating exceptional young men and women. It is with pride we recognize and celebrate all our former explorers' accomplishments, such as Azusa Police Officer Andrew Avalos. When Andrew left Post #499, he earned the rank of lieutenant. He was an exceptional explorer leader that developed into an exceptional officer. Outstanding work Officer Avalos!
Post #499 continues to raise the bar. Like most other organizations, Post #499 has learned to adapt to the COVID-19 restrictions, yet they continue to "show up". Last night, Detective Vega provided a presentation on being a homicide detective. Chief Bell also dropped in for a few words of encouragement. #499HonorandPride
Going into week #8 of Safer-at-Home, but that doesn't stop Explorer Post #499. We met a few Glendora PD explorers and played trivia games with them. In addition, Post #499 wished a happy birthday to Explorer Sgt. X. Salas. Not much will stop us. We adapt and adjust for the circumstances. Post #499 ~ Honor and Pride.
Throw Back Thursday?!?! We can do that.
Post #499 is staying safe by adhering to Safer-At-Home guidelines. Our regularly scheduled Orientation Meeting on Tuesday, April 7th is canceled. We hope to be able to see new recruits on Tuesday, May 5th. Stay Safe. Stay Home. We Need You.
What do you do when you are under a Safer-At-Home restriction? You "hang out". Post #499 attended their regularly scheduled Tuesday night meeting virtually. It's a great opportunity for us to remain connected while being separated. We are looking forward to more virtual meetings
The Explorers and Advisors of Post #499 are saddened by the news of the death of Ventura County Sheriff's Explorer Austin Gambill. We send our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the Ventura County Sheriff's Explorer Post. Austin was in the 10th grade at Ventura High School and served as an Explorer at the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office’s Headquarters Post, as well as a member of his school's track and field and cross country teams. Austin was struck by a vehicle while running. He succumbed to those injuries.
Inline with recent recommendations to suspend public gatherings, West Covina Post #499 will suspend all training meetings until approximately April 14th. Explorers are encouraged to be mindful of their health and follow guidelines suggested by the CDC. ... -
