"This is the Akron headquarters in 1977 when we were members of the Voluntary Service (VS) unit. VS consisted of young people mainly from the US and Canada who signed up for a term of service. We worked alongside the paid staff and were comprised of secretaries, kitchen cooks, truckers and mobile cannery workers, maintenance/janitorial, and production room staff. "There were opportunities for group outings to nearby places, like Washington DC, New York City, Philadelphia, the... Atlantic shore, and Niagara Falls. We lived in two co-ed housesMain and Menno Housenear the main office." - Cheryl Wall I was a part of this VS unit. That's Phyllis on the left and Barb right next to her. Twillia and Horst at the desk and perhaps I was taking the picture. (Steve) Have an MCC story to share? We want to hear it! Check out mcc.org/share-your-story. #mccpeace #mcc100years

Sat., Aug. 29: CALLING ALL BICYCLISTS! Celebrate the Centennial with a century ride! For 100 years, MCC has responded to crises all around the world. When tragedies happen, such as the COVID pandemic or recent explosion in Lebanon, or when war or famine creates a refugee crisis, MCC is there. With many of the scheduled MCC rides canceled in 2020 due to COVID-19, a group of cyclists is issuing a challenge to fellow cyclists around the country to help MCC celebrate its centennial year by riding a century ride this year (or a distance of choice).
