U.S. Representative David G. Valadao introduced the Responsible, No-Cost Extension of Western Water Infrastructure Improvements, or RENEW WIIN, Act, a no-cost, clean extension of operations and storage provisions of the WIIN Act (P.L. 114-322). Leader Kevin McCarthy said Having dealt with water issues firsthand, both as a Member of Congress and as a farmer, he knows how critical this resource is to our families and communities. I am confident that the RENEW WIIN Act, which extends the bipartisan California water provisions in the WIIN Act of 2016, will help to improve the lives of our local agricultural producers and farming families who help to feed California and the world. https://valadao.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx

Growers all over our county are using #TheMagicOfWater responsibly to grow their precious crops. Some of the ways farmers conserve water are to use drip and micro-sprinkler irrigation systems that concentrate water directly where it is needed for the crop. Cropland is also laser-leveled so that there are no low spots in the field where water can puddle. #WAKC

You shall not PASS by this post without understanding the importance water plays in growing your food. In #California, almond trees cover nearly 1 million acres and they can produce delicious almonds for 20-30 years with proper care and watering! #TheMagicOfWater helps your favorite snack get from the tree to your pantry, and it preserves the lives of these beautiful trees!

Storage projects partially funded by Proposition 1 should help the state balance the swings in precipitation that characterize the California climate, and that scientists say could become more severe due to global climate change. Yet, six years after the bond's passage, the water storage projects that will benefit from Proposition 1 likely remain at least a decade away from becoming operational. That may be frustrating to farmers, ranchers and other Californians who voted for the bond during a debilitating drought https://www.agalert.com/story/

Once restored, the Friant-Kern Canal will operate at 4,000 cubic-feet-per-second near the Deer Creek check structure, which the Friant Water Authority said is the most critical area. With the 33-mile stretch that has sunk into the earth due to groundwater extraction, the canal is only operating at 1,600 cubic-feet-per-second. A fully-functional Friant-Kern canal delivers water to over one million acres of farmland and 250,000 people. Recently the canal has failed to deliver 300,000 acre-feet of water due to the issue. http://sjvsun.com//feds-give-green-light-to-friant-kern-/
