Washington Children's Center

Our summer program is in full swing! The kids have been to the farm, seen Disney/Pixar's "Finding Dory", and been having weekly visits by the Zumba instructor and Science Guy! Whew - it's not even JULY yet! Today, the kids got to pet and/or handle Ed Sullivan, the corn snake! :o Pictures of the fun in our parents/staff-only group!

We had a very fun and successful trip to Underwood Family Farms in Moorpark today! We picked our own berries, had lunch, saw the animals, rode the tractor, and learned about farm life! Thanks to all who made it a great success! Have a great weekend, and get ready for our next field trip on Friday, June 17th to see the new Disney/Pixar release "Finding Dory"! :D

Congratulations to our 5th Grade graduates! They began their first day of summer vacation by celebrating with a special pancake breakfast with their friends, (served by their teacher, Mrs. Starks!). We are so proud of them, and know they will do GREAT when they move on to John Muir Middle school in the fall! (But we gladly get to 'keep' them until then!) ...pics are available to see on the parents & staff-only group page ;)

This is it!!! The last week of school! 3 1/2 school days left until summer vacation begins! Please make note of the early dismissal times for your children on Thursday, and remember that the summer schedule for our center officially begins on Friday. Congratulations to our Preschool Graduates! They put on a wonderful performance and showed how VERY ready they are for Kindergarten! Our page for parents and staff only has pictures uploaded from their big day! Thanks to all the parents and family members who came out for the graduation ceremony! :D

Tomorrow, Friday, May 20th, at 10:00a.m., we will be celebrating with our annual Preschool graduation ceremony! We have a very sweet group that are now Kindergarten-ready! Our younger students will be cheering them on and watching what they'll be in for this time next year. Congratulations to the W.C.C. Preschool class of 2016! :D

Tomorrow, Thursday, April 7th, at 9:00a.m., Washington Elementary School is hosting a school tour for new/incoming T-K (Transitional Kindergarteners) and Kindergarteners. Please call the school office with questions. (818) 558-5550. They will conduct one additional tour of this nature on May 5th at 9:00a.m.

Our preschoolers had a ROARing good time at the L.A. Zoo today on their field trip! Thank you to the teachers, parents, and our Supervisor for making it all happen! (y) :D

Next week is Parent-Teacher Conference week! 1st and 2nd graders will be dismissed at 1:13, and 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will be dismissed at 1:23 every day next week! (y)

Just a reminder.... School and our Center is closed until Tuesday morning. Happy holiday weekend! :)

Short week next week! And the week after that! Washington Children's Center is closed in observance of the President's Day holiday and Lincoln's Birthday. If you aren't able to be off work, please be sure to make arrangements for childcare on Friday, February 12 and Monday February 15. Thank you :)
