This video sort of looks like it was filmed with a toaster... but anyway, here’s a quick little explanation of why a breast lift with implants is sometimes staged out into 2 surgeries. Skin quality is big factor when considering single-stage breast lift with augmentation. Weight loss isn’t the only thing that can affect the quality of the skin. Women who have breast fed one or more children, or had one or more pregnancies where the breast size fluctuated, can also have compromised skin quality. It’s best to have an in-person consultation to see if you're a candidate for a single-stage breast lift with implants.

Little update on our patient who was the asymmetrical case from a few posts back. Here she is 3 months out from surgery! Her breast lift scar will continue to fade and heal with time. She looks great and we can’t wait to see her long term results!

The progress of an in-office lip lift . A lip lift is performed by creating a bullhorn shaped incision just underneath the nose and excising the skin. This results in a shortening of the philtrum, or the space in between the mouth and nose, and everting the top lip so that it looks fuller and more pronounced. This procedure can be performed in our office under local anesthesia in about an hour.

Breast reconstruction procedures come in many different varieties and are specific to each individual case and patient. The right reconstruction plan is something that is discussed between the patient and the plastic surgeon, and coordinated with the breast surgeon. Reconstruction is a journey and sometimes is a multi-step or very lengthy process. This is a photo of some of the devices that are used in implant-based reconstruction, which is the most commonly performed recons...truction method in our practice. Here you see a breast expander, which is placed after a mastectomy is performed. Expanders are incrementally filled with saline or air over a few weeks and eventually replaced with a permanent breast implant. Breast implants also come in many different flavors, so make sure you speak with your plastic surgeon about which one is the best for you. See more

Love this illustration demonstrating some of the observable changes in the breast that can be indicators of breast cancer. If you or someone you know has noticed one or more of these symptoms, call your doctor and schedule a mammogram. It may nothing, or it may be something, but it is far better to know and have a plan than to continue to wait and wonder.

This patient had right breast reconstruction after a mastectomy. She already had 500cc implants, so the right breast implant was removed, a mastectomy was performed by the patient’s breast surgeon, and a tissue expander was placed as the first stage of reconstruction. The second stage was performed about 3 months later, where the tissue expander was removed and replaced with a permanent implant. Fat grafting was also performed to give the breast a better contour. Here she is 1 year later, looking great and, most importantly, cancer free!
