What a gorgeous day it was at the 17th Annual Napa County Pruning Contest! This year there were approximately 115 participants! Ramon Buenrostro proudly placed in 2nd! Congratulations to Ramon and to all the participants! ¡Fue un hermoso día en el Concurso Anual de la Poda en el condado de Napa! ¡Este año hubo aproximadamente 115 participantes! ¡Ramón Buenrostro orgullosamente obtuvo el segundo lugar! Each year OLE Health hosts several farmworker health fairs at locations throughout Napa County to support the health of those who ensure the economic vitality o...f our community. Years of experience have taught us that too often those who need health care the most have the most trouble accessing it. To address this disparity, OLE Health, in collaboration with Queen of the Valley CARE Network and other community partners, provides important, culturally sensitive, on-site community health fairs, offering such services as: Health Screenings: Blood pressure Cholesterol Blood sugar Height & Weight Free on-site consultations: Medical consultations with health providers Behavioral Health Services Follow-up appointments if needed On March 14th and 15th we provided health screenings, health presentations, and resource fair to Walsh Vineyard Management. Approximately 255 employees received services. Partners for this event include: Queen of the Valley Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente Thrive, Napa Valley College, Napa County Health & Human Services Agency (Napa County Public Health, Self-Sufficiency Division), Touro University California, Napa County Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug Services of NAPA County, Citizenship Legal Services, Napa Valley Community Housing, News - Domestic Violence & Sexual Abuse Services, and several community volunteers not affiliated with an agency

On Wednesday, the Walsh team participated in the 16th Annual Napa County Pruning Contest! This year we are delighted to announce that Maria Herlinda placed 3rd in the women's division! On behalf of Walsh Vineyards we would like to congratulate each participant who participated in the contest! El miércoles, el equipo de Walsh participó en el 16 Concurso Anual de la Poda del Condado de Napa. Este año estamos encantados de anunciar que Maria Herlinda gano el tercer lugar en la division de las mujeres! En nombre de Walsh Vineyards queremos felicitar a cada participante que participó en el concurso!

This afternoon the Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation held their first annual Appreciation Luncheon. Among the attendees our fellow employees, Maria Herlinda, Alfredo, Leopoldo, Marina and Ramon received a Congressional Certificate of Achievement from Congressman Mike Thompson after completing the English Literacy Program. Along with these achievements Araceli was also recognized with a Congressional Certificate. She was the champion at the 2016 Napa County Pruning Contest! Wa...lsh Vineyards Management is truly honored to have an exemplary and talented group of individuals! Congratulations to everyone! Esta tarde la Fundación del Valle de Napa de Trabajadores Agrícolas celebró su primer Lonche Anual de Reconocimiento. Entre los asistentes nuestros compañeros de trabajo, María Herlinda, Alfredo, Leopoldo, Marina y Ramón recibieron un Certificado de Reconocimiento del Congreso. El congresista Mike Thompson les presento con su certificado al reconocerlos por sus logros después de completar el Programa de Inglés. Junto con estos reconocimientos Araceli también fue reconocida con un Certificado del Congreso. ¡Ella fue la campeona en el Concurso de la Poda en el Valle de Napa del 2016! Congratulations to Alfredo Velazquez and Ramon Buenrostro pictured below . Along with Marina Gamez,Leopoldo Miranda, and Maria H. Romero ,these employees graduated from the 2016 English Literacy Program sponsored by the Napa Valley Farm Worker Foundation last night at a ceremony held at Napa College. These employees participated in learning English at different levels on their own time after work hours. Walsh Vineyards is very proud to have these people in our company showing commitment to learning more skills that enable them to become valuable employees. Tim, and I congratulate you on a job well done.

Heads or tails. A fun game we played at our lunch yesterday. Very simple. You put your hands either on your head or you "tail".Tim flips the coin. If the coins is heads those with their hands on their "tails"sit down. The group is quickly whittled down to a few. Joaquin Mendez was the "Big Prize" winner.

Walsh Vineyards had a great time today as we celebrated our employees. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at our warehouse, catered by Los Compadres of Napa. Among the events we took time to honor Mario Marin and Ruben Flores for there 20 years of work here at WVM. We were reminded of how people like Mario and Ruben help WVM be the great company it is . We were also able to congratulate Rubeen on being named as the Professional Safety Person of the year by AgSafe.

Chardonnay photos taken the same day show the difference in when varieties start growing. They will fall into the same pattern through harvest.Look closely and you can already see the clusters that will continue to grow.

1st Merlot buds to pop. With the warm weather this week we expect the vines to really grow. It looks like another early year.
