We love our interns and do our best to accommodate their classes! (This is not a real baby. This is an educational experience for school. Riley is an amazing student and intern!)

Motorcycle Riders beware of your helmets! Every motorcycle helmet for sale in the United States has a DOT sticker on it, but does anyone know what that sticker means? What it means is that the manufacturer is stating they believe their helmet is DOT compliant. However, a closer look at the helmets on the market reveal that 41.9 % of those helmets failed the performance test, which is just another way to say they failed to provide the appropriate head protection. If a rider has been involved in an accident where they sustained a significant head injury while wearing a DOT stickered helmet, they should speak to an attorney about their rights.

Now that the immediate fire danger has passed, Wrightwood is in desperate need of disaster volunteers. I have been on the board of the Wrightwood Disaster Team for 16 years. The team has accomplished a lot for our little town, but one of our biggest accomplishments of assembling a 250 person disaster team thru CERT has dwindled to 50 people with most volunteers being over 60. I mean no insult to those on the team but we need some young blood so to speak. CERT which stands... for Community Emergency Response Team has provided a three day training in the past for our volunteers. In this day of Covid the program is being converted to some form of a virtual course. While the program is being set up we are looking for people who would be interested in signing up for the class. The class will teach you what you need to know in a disaster, from earthquakes to fire. Since our little town sits right on the San Andreas fault, it is not a matter of if, but rather when, so lets get prepared - whether it is just for purposes of taking care of your family and or joining the community team. The whole theme is neighbors taking care of neighbors. If interested, please leave a message with your contact information at my office (760) 868-4346. From Phil Vondra, Ok guys, here is a problem I am having with Wells Fargo and I would guess this has happened to some of you. I refinanced my home with Wells Fargo in 2011. Paid extra fees to lock in a lower interest rate. Two months ago, in 2020, out of the blue Wells Fargo refunded those fees saying we did not lock in your rate in 2011. Since that time I have been trying to find out the rate difference and how much I lost in paying extra interest. Amazingly, Wells Fargo will not give me that information. They have had issues with predatory lending practices in the past and I think they are going to have another problem on this one. If this has happened to you, will you please let me know and how Wells Fargo handled it. Just want what is fair based on what I was charged at the time. Doing my due diligence before taking action.

I want to thank everyone who is/are participating in our injured seniors pen pal program that we started through my law office. I am receiving very heartfelt thank you cards from several of the seniors. They appreciate the love you all have shown them. It means a lot to these folks. Please continue to reach out to seniors, in your respective communities, who may be home bound and in need of some human contact. Thank you all. Phil Vondra

Thanks to COVID we are working with a "skeleton" crew in the office! No "bones" about it, our new crew member is quite "humerus."

When your nieces see your picture on a billboard, cuteness follows!

I want to personally thank all the responses to our Pen Pal idea. The phone calls and emails were overwhelming in such a great way. For all those people who responded, I will be calling each of you this week. We got our first few helpers going on this. There are a couple of legality loopholes (dang attorneys) that I have to cover and then I am hoping to involve more seniors. If you know of a senior who is home-bound and they need some written encouraging contact, let us know and we will work it out. This serves as a reminder to all of us, check on your neighbors, sometimes just a regular hello, and a socially distant conversation could mean the world to someone. Please take the time if you know someone alone during Covid, to reach out and let them know you care.

Looking for pen pals! Our office serves our local senior citizens who have had injury accidents. Many are now home-bound due to COVID and feel completely isolated. They even limit TV news exposure or reading the paper due to the negativity. Many do not even have a computer, nor do they want one. We are now seeking a few volunteers who do not work at either of our offices, to write an occasional letter to one of our clients in need of some type of additional human contact.
