Welcome to the 2020-2021 School Year We can't wait to see all our Vikings online tomorrow at 8:00 am. Our teachers will provide at least 120 instructional minutes a day the first week of school. They will use the remaining time in their day for One on One assessments and Professional Development. Beginning on September 8th instructional minutes will increase to 180 minutes for Kindergarten, 230 minutes for 1st-3rd grade, and 240 minutes for 4th-6th grade. Good Afternoon Vista Square School Families, As we prepare for the start of the 2020-2021 school year, I wanted to communicate a timeline of several school events that will be occurring over the few weeks in preparation for the start of our new school year in distance learning. Please note that these dates may be updated, as needed, as we prepare for the start of the school year and that you will receive reminders for each event via our SchoolMessenger communications. August 12th School secretaries will return to work and our school office opens for virtual service including phone calls and drop-offs (No walk-ins nor in-person service without an appointment). August 13th August 20th Virtual verification of residency begins. August 24th and 25th Wifi hotspot / Laptop device distribution for beginning of the year. August 28th Parents will receive an email with notification of your child’s teacher and important school information and forms which are traditionally found in our beginning-of-the-year parent packets. August 26th, 27th, and 28th Professional Development Training and Planning Days for teachers. You will receive a message and call from your child’s teacher sometime during these 3 days. August 31st First Day of School occurs for all students promptly at 8:00 a.m. online. We highly recommend you begin a routine for your child to go to bed by 8:00 p.m. every night to make sure they are rested and up on time. September 11th Curriculum and materials distribution for all grades. This date is tentative as we are waiting for all our supplies to arrive and organize them for you. Parents will collect a package of classroom materials for use during distance learning. You will be notified when they are ready. September 14th Virtual Back-to-School Curriculum Night is tentatively scheduled and will take place for Grades 1st 6th. Your child’s teacher will share the link to join. Session 1: 4:30-5:15 p.m. Session 2: 5:30-6:15 p.m. I hope that everyone is having a wonderful week.
